agree with you mop boy rookies looked very good and very fit good to see (as you posted)that there was none of the second give that you saw over the last few years among certain players and the footy looked a lot better for it .the young ruckman in question looked quite at home and not out of place at all in his first a grade game but will need to keep raising the bar all year to compete with some of the bigger blokes in the hills as there ruckman wasnt anything special. totally agree about the in the back rule the way tjs old boy umpired it on sat was teribble was like watching a game of american nfl it was that stop start .good luck on the weekend in renmark and look after the armytank he not as young as he thinks he is might struggle to keep up with you young bucks !!!p.s what happened to your oldman did he get the wobbles :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Alaska wrote:Mop up and Army Tank what did you think of the new kid with the head taped and bright blue shorts who played in Gaz's spot in the 4th and 5th quarters? Jake I think. He is one of the dozen Flinders boarders that have rocked up but with a lot of class I thought. :supz:

Yeah Jake has come from up from Mt Gambier for uni, I believe he has played a couple of seasons for West Gambier and looks like he can play a bit

This weeks trial should be a good hit out, although I am unsure if everyone is available?

No offence, lads. But can we chuck in some full stops or commas so I can follow some of these posts?
I follow the Devs but am keen to hear how others are shaping up. Thunderers sound 100 times better than last year and bridgey so far sound better.
DA could be spot on with Birdwood being the 'bye'.
Tex - you ballsack, let's hear about your team. All you did is give others sh#t. Do enlighten us...

Mate, if you can source those picks and send them to me, they will be in pole position for edition 1. Send them to mailto:MLDFCdevilsadvocate@gmail.com and I'll whack them in!

Burchy and Dean Martin hey? I'll chek that one out too!

The only time I've been genuinely concerned about copping a robbo knuckle sandwhich, was when I put him in the Devils Advocate 'nickname' section last year. He was hating it!

The new 'in the back' rule at present seems a bit ridiculous to me, there is no better way to trial a rule, as the AFL does year in year out, than the NAB cup. So what does the AFL do with this new rule, brings it striaght in without trial....why you ask? Probably because they knew four rounds wouldn't have been long enough for players and supporters to get used such a new rule that has quite a large impact on the game, and therefore the backlash would have meant the end of such change in the game for good. I'm willing to give it a season, but if it doesn't improve the game, which i don't think it will, the AFL should thow it out...but they won't, because Demitriou is a ball bag who cares more about the people who watch the game than the people who play it.

AFL footballers are professionals though, they play the game for a living and therefore should be able to adjust given the coaching and time spent practising, running through drills and what not. My problem is the fact that amateur leauges are following suit at the drop of a hat as they feel obliged to replicate the AFL, but how do they expect amateur footy players to change what they've know since picking up a footy as a little tacker? It's instinct, I know when I run out on the ground and someone is backing into me ill probably put my hands out, it's not infringing the contest, more like allowing it, as it means i won't be knocked out of it. I know they say you can use your forearm, but come on, what's the difference here. Stick with the old rule which pays a free kick if you 'push' someone in the back. The rule is so open for interpretation and is just ridiculous really at our level, especially when you consider the quality of umpiring. How are these old blokes who are more worried about their hips popping out than getting to the contest going to adjudicate such contests? This rule is something that needs to be addressed, the relatioinship between many umpires and clubs is at best volatile more often than not and the frustration that will be caused by this new rule could mean things may boil over. The last think we need is an umpire being belted!

Well i guess we will see if all this crap talk about Kersbrook and their 'alleged' players list is true this week when they play Hahndorf. I just cant stand ANY teams that field the black and white colours, so i guess im backing Kersbrook!
