Heard all this rain is making a few freeling farmers quite nervous. Greenwood would want his money in advance!

Snoozer sounds like you need to tuffen up little boy can tell you for a fact if Catchard was your coach and you didn't put someone on the deck if you had half a chance you would be sitting on the pine.
Don't think there was any malice intended on the bump just one to wake the big fellar up.
Demand respect you earn it.
Sounds like you enjoy the local derbys to much and possibly analise the game through the bottom of an empty bottle of chardonay.

Any news on this move Pinch Hitter ? How will this effect the Donnybrooks ?

I am staggered at Willastons lack of resources to secure quality imports to bolster a decent local list. Thinking back over the last 20 years the Donnybrooks have landed some of the biggest fish in SA Footy eg Jamie Thomas , Des ODwyer , Steven Connelly etc. However in recent years while other clubs continue to sign on at least 1 -2 gun imports... some clubs more, Willaston havent had anyone of note.

Is it the football commitee's inability to entice these guys ? is it a money issue ?

I hate to say it but the Donnybrooks may be heading in the same direction as another Gawler club, SOUTH.

It appears your little mind seems to be playing tricks on you again plugger because there is no chance you'll ever catch a coach pissing on the bar at elliot godger memorial park .. unless of course they want to be eating out of their asshole for the rest of the season , so lets not use south and willaston in the same breath thanks.

it is no secret that the donnybrooks arent in the same league as tanunda, freeling, barossa, angaston, nuri when it comes to attracting mercenaries and i am not sure you can count any signings made this off season with the exeption of Freelings Schubert and Greenwood as gun imports!!

The donnybrooks will work with what they've got and look forward to racing their kingswood against tanunda's mercedes.

The Herzick pissing on the bar incident at South Gawler has really left a nasty taste in alot of peoples mouth. When your own coach treats the club with that kind of disrespect how can any of his comrades take pulling on the guernsey seriously , his actions have definatley scared the South Gawler Football Clubs image internally and externally. They are a rable at best.

There are plenty of ex league , reserve grade footballers out there looking for a game in the BL&G , can Willaston fit any into there budget for 2010 ? Is Zoolander talking to any of his many contacts from Broadview ?

Sorry to draw parallels with South Gawler but the Donnies havent played finals football in a long time, the longer this goes on the harder its going to be to entice players and keep players.

Kennedys buying price is 1K per game , a 100 goal a season full forward would have to add some spark to your limited forward line.

Plugger the donnies played finals twice and a GF in the last 6 seasons not quite the drought some other clubs are experiencing but i concede that their on field performances are viewed internally as probably the lowest in the clubs BLG history.

Shooting packages of your vast football knowledge across my bow about the brooks amuses me, but your philosphy that keeping players hinges on playing finals may best be answered by Tanunda, barossa or Gawler Central.

Willaston don't need to spend thousands to recruit ex SANFL reserves grade players we have got our own home grown ones that come back to the club. $800 for 1 SANFL league player is a waste of money or $1000 for a BLG full forward even worse especially when 35 yo Brandon Nottle has your measure.

The brooks have a culture of an honest days work for an honest days pay , that usually doesn't suit wanna be BLG high rollers.

Pinch Hitter, you say your home grown talent returns to the club, what do you think Kent Kingsley and Louis Hadden are for us? they are home grown talent returning to our club in 2010.

Does your home grown talent include that of players such as Troy Benny, Ivan Silvy, Brian Silvy, Chad Norsworthy, Chris McClean, Brenton Nottle or even your man in charge Jarod Puro who went to Gaza a few years ago leave the club? Then returned to the Brooks? This is not that loyal

Why do so many players like the talented Benny, Silvy's and Puro, leave the club?

Not that i drew any comparisons between willaston and other clubs on home grown talent  and thats just terrifc news for the panthers but i don't give a sh-t what goes on out there.

Players move on for many reasons, employment, the coach, greener pastures, mates, girlfriends, location, to better themselves, a change of scenery. The list goes on mate.

The old loyalty catch cry is 80's stuff my friend. All of these names you've dropped whether they are retired or playing elsewhere they still have a soft spot for the old donnybrooks and no doubt if the planets aligned would be glad to be suiting up together in the red V.

As you say we're just glad we have had and will keep having many talented players come through the club.

Pinch Hitter , you keep pinning your hopes on the narrow shoulders of your local talent.

Havent times changed at the Donnybrooks, your teams through the 80's & 90's were blessed with some of the best players within amateur SA football. Many were not locals but the product of some fine recruiting and a successful club enviroment. Thats when you were winning premierships and playing finals year in year out.

Until you can secure some power forwards and ruckman you will just have to continue enjoying hosting finals and watching the Magpies run laps of honour and collecting there medals on the dias.

hope is for the misguided, willaston are just a crew of blokes willing to take up the fight against the wall street clubs of the BLG and where victory is oh so much sweeter.

Some of those figures are grossly out. From all reports Norsworthy was probably the highest paid player in the BL&G last year.
Seelander had to let him go at his asking price.

Wow, Thats alot of honest days pay for a honest days work. Only two of those guys would get a gig in our starting 21.

Norsworthy the highest paid player in the BL&G ? Knowing what some of the Tanunda guys are on he must of been plenty eg $600 + , again another wingman / mid fielder. Bit like Craig Cotter.

Pinch Hitter , here is a tip for your president Roger Matz , top of your shopping list - players above 6ft. Garden Gnomes like yourself are dime a dozen so dont waste your money on them or you may find yourself singing for your supper in years to come.

PitBullOfSh1t - thanks for the advice, means a lot coming from u and will take it on board :?
Yes it was just a bump and old "sh1t nickname" came off second best, cant agree more.
Yes love a local derby and a quiet drop. I guess i would rather watch a good skilful game in the sun with a glass of wine, than watch a scrap out in a mud-pool, whilst trying to keep warm in my home made feral cat skin jacket...
Is it still part of the Ango consitution that you must field at least 2 players in your B-grade with a "beard, tatoo and pony tail" combo for each game... ;)
All the best with your funds raising this year (goat herding up in them there hills), i hear you can sell a good goat for about $22 at the Tarlee markets these days. Although you may find it hard to sell off your loved ones....
p.s. chin up princess....
Wooden spoons; great for stirring soup... p.s. I think I love Les baker

Plugger you bring up the name Matz
throw in Brien, Symes, Lucasx2, Bennie, and all the donnybrook club members
and you have just found the problem with Willaston
all ego maniacs all living in the past
Its not only on the field they need some recruiting off the field recruiting is also needed and get above names to have no influence what so ever with decision making
will be harder said than done unfortunately
there are so many passionate good people at that club outside the above mentioned names

Congratulations 'Snoozer' on taking humour to new and exciting levels...
You are the epitomy of a Tanunda-ite, head like a rubiks cube....and in that cube...poo.
Angaston, with a population under 1900 people continues to come up with quality football teams,
heavily local based too.
I always look forward to your well thought out and highly intelligent comments on 'Cat skin coats' and other
brilliantly imaginative remarks about a town that is 6mins drive from you.
Takes a 'real mans' team to win in the wet/mud too, hard, tough football like all the nostalgics are talkin about on here,
Thats why Ango win in the wet...prepared to get down and dirty....Not worried about ruining their nails like some teams.

151, those guys have been involved in and around the Willaston football for many years.

Are you suggesting that they are the reason Willaston are unable to recruit players , retain players and coaches and have had limited success over the last decade ?

I look at that club now and say " what happened . I just cant see who they are going to replace within that top 4 next season , not to mention having BD's and Freeling breathing down there necks for there spot.
