Really! We (Hope Valley) r under the impression that we r playing them 2morrow night!

Just been catching up with the goss over the last few pages. I don't reckon anybody played Gummy last Friday night because they don't have A's and B's this year. The decision was made over the last couple of weeks and the story will no doubt be out and about this week. The numbers just weren't there and they had to confess to the league that it just couldn't happen. They're apparently keeping their juniors though. With the program already released, this means big headaches. I also know of one other Country Div. club which will be scratching to get it all together this year.

We played Gumeracha friday night... the biggest slant i have ever seen on any oval! they had mostly all young lads that liked to run with the footy

so have gum got a side this year or not??

Well, I'm pretty sure of my source as it's a VERY reliable one. Is there anyone else in the know out there?
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

No, I'm sure Gum will have sides this year albeit very little depth (may even forfeit a few B's games). I spoke to one of their players on Sat and he said a lot of the kids are going to step up to play seniors as well as U17s. Big ask on the kids.

So what were all of the trial game results on the weekend?
We all know Lofty, Ironbank and Shanty got up. Any other results?

Regarding Lobethals website posting...what a fair case of sour grapes. They CANNOT be fair dinkum about having a go at ANY club about the salary cap.
Their pride must still be dented after last year's pathetic season.

I seriously wouldn't worry too much about such a comment made by Loby. They've never forked out that much for players across the board and have always relied on local talent not asking for much coin to keep them competitive. Now that they're not a top 3 club i think they're a bit frustrated and finding the fact that a lot of other clubs are all of a sudden paying plenty of moula a little hard to swallow. That's not to say anyone is breaking the salary cap, it's just that few clubs were rarely paying anything close to the cap a few years ago and all of a sudden teams like Lofty, Cabbage, Hahn, Blacwood(but they always have...ballbags!) and it sounds like even IB and Bridgie are this year are getting amongst it. Lets be honest though, if Loby don't start paying some more players they're gonna be left behind.....it's all about contacts boys!
BY the way, Loby weren't paying $600 for Cook...who would, he's a sack of a bloke.

Also, who were the star performers for Lofty on sat A's & B's. Also who ran through the guts in the A's with so many guns out?

Shane Maslin - on fire. Doesn't wear rude boots like his brother either!
Nathan Petersen Gray looked good. Bloody strong and possibly the fittest man alive.
Matty Penny had a solid game. Did some very flashy things when picking up the ball (between his legs Jordan-esque) and showing it to the opposition. Would have copped a spray from me if he was an opposing player, but love seeing a Devil do it!!
Whitey dominated. He was everywhere!

Whitey was in the guts, but can't really recall who else. It was a SHOCKER of an oval. Up on top of a hill (windy as hell) and terrible viewing.

Huff muff tried to take a Jesalenko and when he finally came down, it nearly started raining he got up that high!!! Pity the ball was about 50 meters away!!!

Haha, Huffmeister...Gold!

Let's be honest, junior is the man...unfortunately about as soft as Chris Hampton though!! Did hampto show his mercurial best? I hope not. I believe he's trying to stake claim to the FF position...a tough gig when the coach has led the goal kickers from that spot over the past 2 seasons.

HassleHuff loves it!

Hampto had a stint on the pill and was reasonable.

Coops was trailed at FF in the B's and was struggling a bit. He's gold until he gets those big white sticks in front of him!!

HassleHuff will be wicked when he forgets the offside rule doesn't apply in aussie rules! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

So when's round 1 in HFL Central? A month away?
Sounds like Central clubs have all lifted this year and recruited well, apparently.
Except Loby, they don't pay players.

That's pure comedy!

Good work on the fixtures M80.

Early tips? Mine FWIW in red:

Blackwood v Ironbank
Hahndorf v Lobethal
Uraidla Dist v Bridgewater
Onka Valley v Birdwood
Mt Barker v Mt Lofty

Pretty easy IMO. Onkas have the bye first up with Hahndy v Loby the only real toughie.

I have good reason to suggest Lobethal may surprise a few this year. Apparently have picked a few up guns. That's not to say your boys won't get up M80, but they won't be easy beats by the sounds. It should be a solid comp this year, apart from the one game which DA likes to call the bye.

I do remember one game when 'Coat'-rack lived up to his name and dropped Schutta, best 'Coat'-hanger i've ever seen! Red card...Seeya!
