Cachard, J Linke, Klienig Bros etc. For me the toughest was certainly Kym Lindner, despite what Beegrader says he was a very good player who I recall captained the blockies for a long time and had a stint at centrals. 2nd is the great Micky Schluter, now this man was tough and hard and also had some great dirty tricks up his sleeve. 3rd is the entire Willaston side through the late 80's and early 90's.

Yes Skip, hard to go past the amalgamated Jokers/Finks/Angels side of the 80's-90's.
The Donny’s still try and live the creed of that era.

The graveyard will come alive again one day Osama you better just hope you've hung up the boots by then , consider yourself lucky to have played in one of the softest decades in BLG history.

Surprised the "B-TRAIN" hasn't been mentioned, eat's raw meat for breakfast.

Are you sure he only eats raw meat for breakfast - from the look at the size of him he eats everything in the fridge, freezer and pantry

B train used to think that manual labour was the name of Spanish bloke he went to school with, but he has been doing some pretty hard yakka in the territory over the last few weeks and is looking the fittest i have seen him for a few years. Mind you he was worn out by 4 kids under 9 over an hour or 2 a couple of weeks ago !

Kennedy has been wine , dined and 69 by every one of the Tanunda Football Clubs money men in recent days. There hopes are pinned on trying to get him stay on and create history with a string of premierships available in the window of opportunity.

If he has been fishing for more cash to see what he is worth it seems to have worked , a increased pay packet and a bonus scheme worth plenty is sounding like a offer too good to refuse.

I could talk about Tanunda gun forwards all day , i have previously left out all the Tanunda champions of the past due to my past involvement with the club. Loved playing with Tony Porter , Potty Schwerdt , Gummy , Basil , Killer , Rah Rah and of course the great Mocha Dunstan.

Other forwards worth mentioning are Willastons Dave Reeves , Allan Stringer from Riverton and South Gawlers Brett Macarther.

While we are still living in the past Steven Moulds was as good a power forward as any mentioned. Kicked 14 one day at kapunda a few years back now, was also one tough footballer. Anybody still playing A grade footy at 42 demands respect!
Whats the record for most goals kicked in a game in the BLG?

Brett McArthur (South Gawler) kicked 19 (I think) one day against Barossa and Ian Trimboli also booted 19 in a Tanunda whitewash against South Gawler...
Tim Clarke was the #1 player in the AFL

Any news on this move Pinch Hitter ? How will this effect the Donnybrooks ?

I am staggered at Willastons lack of resources to secure quality imports to bolster a decent local list. Thinking back over the last 20 years the Donnybrooks have landed some of the biggest fish in SA Footy eg Jamie Thomas , Des ODwyer , Steven Connelly etc. However in recent years while other clubs continue to sign on at least 1 -2 gun imports... some clubs more, Willaston havent had anyone of note.

Is it the football commitee's inability to entice these guys ? is it a money issue ?

I hate to say it but the Donnybrooks may be heading in the same direction as another Gawler club, SOUTH.

Standing at less than 6ft and 90kgs kicked 100 goals in a side that only finished mid field and spent a lot of time on the ball.
Diddles Harvey current BLG toughest guy at the moment broke his jaw second qtr at Kapunda played the rest of the game and collected 3 votes.
Catchard also up with the best of them.

pit-bull-sh1t... Harvey is again one of those players that is built like tarzan, but does a little of the playing like Jane. Yes on occasion he will get a hard ball and he does win a lot of posession, but in later years he has sat back a lot and can only kick the ball 25m max. Therefore he is actually not effective at all.
As for the broken jaw, did you know that he actually tried to snipe Kapunda's Brad "Wrangy" Valentine, when Brad had his head over the ball and brad being a genuine "hard at it" player, bounced off Harvey and disposed of the ball (well over 30m i've heard), whilst the man with the gayest name in the comp (Diddles), was left licking his wounds... Hold on, no he was not licking his wounds as he probably coult not his tongue out of his mouth.
TRUE TOUGH PLAYERS ARE NOT THE ONES THAT KNOCK PEOPLE OUT WHEN OTHERS HAVE THIER HEAD OVER THE BALL. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT TACKLE HARD, BREAK THROUGH PACKS AND DEMAND RESPECT, THEY ARE BY NO MEANS FEARED BY OPOSITION, AS THEY PLAY A FAIR GAME.

That will leave a hole in the Willaston midfield. I have heard that they will regain Sankey from a knee injury and Nathan Trevena, who is currently making a go of it at Norwood's preseason. He is another Central District junior with some reserve experience. I imagine they will expect these guys to fill the midfield spot. Personally, from watching Willaston last year, they need to be searching for a key forward.

It appears your little mind seems to be playing tricks on you again plugger because there is no chance you'll ever catch a coach pissing on the bar at elliot godger memorial park .. unless of course they want to be eating out of their asshole for the rest of the season , so lets not use south and willaston in the same breath thanks.

it is no secret that the donnybrooks arent in the same league as tanunda, freeling, barossa, angaston, nuri when it comes to attracting mercenaries and i am not sure you can count any signings made this off season with the exeption of Freelings Schubert and Greenwood as gun imports!!

The donnybrooks will work with what they've got and look forward to racing their kingswood against tanunda's mercedes.

Yep willastons loss is brightons gain, but at the end of the day when you finish 5th you still have a lot of work to do across your list 1 player in or out isn't going to make the rest be any more competitive.

Agree Harvey was just a solid contributor for Hamley Bridge in the APFL, never really saw any of that sort of stuff from him.

If C.Harvey can only kick it 25m then I hate to think how far I can kick, coz he goes double my best.
Think football has probably gone from being hard and basic to a more highly skilled tactical game that lacks the homicidal maniacs of yesteryear.
Hey, lets talk about stuff that happened after Malcom Fraser was prime minister.

The Herzick pissing on the bar incident at South Gawler has really left a nasty taste in alot of peoples mouth. When your own coach treats the club with that kind of disrespect how can any of his comrades take pulling on the guernsey seriously , his actions have definatley scared the South Gawler Football Clubs image internally and externally. They are a rable at best.

There are plenty of ex league , reserve grade footballers out there looking for a game in the BL&G , can Willaston fit any into there budget for 2010 ? Is Zoolander talking to any of his many contacts from Broadview ?

Sorry to draw parallels with South Gawler but the Donnies havent played finals football in a long time, the longer this goes on the harder its going to be to entice players and keep players.

Kennedys buying price is 1K per game , a 100 goal a season full forward would have to add some spark to your limited forward line.

How has Herzig tarnished Souths image. I reckoned he has simply added to it. I can recall hearing about half a dozen of their netball team getting up on the clubroom roof and squatting one night. The place has been one big urinal for years!

Not sure about you Swooper but my idea of tough is putting and keeping your head over the ball when you know theres a good chance your going to wear one. Lindner on the other hand would wait behind the player with these qualities and snipe from there. Another case of someone with very limited ability trying to make a contribution for their side in the only way they know how.

I can recall him him being moved from one talented South forward to the next in the nineties trying to find someone he could keep up with.

You must be thinking of another Linder Beegrader. Kym Lindner was a great player, I think his record stands at 250 odd A grade games, 8 seasons as captain, 2 x premiership captain, couple of B&F and to top it off a stint at Centrals. There was also no questioning his ability to go in hard and put his hairy head over the ball, he would have put the fear of god into all South players. He was one mean tough bugger out on that field and I'm sure all of his opponents still remember him and fear him.
