Have been told that some of the players that are coming up from the 17's will leave if they don't get in the A's team. They are not happy with the B's coach.

That's the uprest...

maybe couch coach has invested interest in the under 17's coming up or maybe twitter twaites has??? hmmm the plot thickens, have personally spoke to a few under 17 coming up and their eyes are firmly set on doing a preseason with the senior squad whether they are in the A's or b's they want to play for the club!!!!think people get on here to stirr up s***t ...

on another note havent heard too much talk bout the nuriootpa team for up coming season?? are they going to continue their progress or was staff a one hit wonder???

Have also spoke to U17's going up and I will go along with you Razzman. I was told the wrong information. That is good news for Barossa. They have a good group of young players going up next season.
If I see it I say it.

Swooper

Not sure about you Swooper but my idea of tough is putting and keeping your head over the ball when you know theres a good chance your going to wear one. Lindner on the other hand would wait behind the player with these qualities and snipe from there. Another case of someone with very limited ability trying to make a contribution for their side in the only way they know how.

I can recall him him being moved from one talented South forward to the next in the nineties trying to find someone he could keep up with.

Ok we have read about the recent tough guys of the comp , by the way my nomination for hardness at the ball is still Danny Westhoff with Mooky Thomas a close second.

Who was the best power forward in your time ?

Without being biased i would have to say Dean Docherty from Willaston and Danny Deptula from Kapunda.

Surely your trying to have a lend of us Plugger.
Last I seen of Rowdy, he jumped at his own shadow.
Your own Gummy Schrapel was the best power forward Plugger.
Think he may be exporting prawns out of China, or some other shaddy act. Passed him going through immigration last Christmas.

You sure you played at all Plugger? Danny W great player that he was and whilst never shirked the issue was no harder or tougher than plenty in those days. Cant reall recall Mooky Thomas, was he another of those little Willaston snipers?

Plenty of great forwards in those days but Chalky Trimboli the only one you could call a great power forward. Dean Docherty great in the air and unbeatable on his day but a bit inconsistant. Deptula - No.

Yeh Docherty was good wasn't he. Seemed to do it so casually too. Falting, while past his best, was a man mountain up forward
for Tanunda and unstoppable on his day.

Hmm,

Its been a few years since Kym played, but if my memory serves me correctly I'm thinking Kym had significantly more decorated playing career than many of these so called talented South forwards. And I'm guessing your only thinking of him in the twilight of his career.

thomas was a great in and under player, would still be kicking goals and spliting packs against todays school boys footy.

power forward surely for period of time he was in the league sonneman would have to be right up there, trimboli obvious, and belive in his prime the great I silvy was a bit of a power forward but i do remember the doctor tearing a finals game apart 1 year think it was at riverton, think it was the smell of grass that made hime fly so high over the packs...

Brenton Jones the Flying Shearer was one of the toughest, smartest and most versatile players ever seen at Angaston.
Standing at less than 6ft and 90kgs kicked 100 goals in a side that only finished mid field and spent a lot of time on the ball.
Diddles Harvey current BLG toughest guy at the moment broke his jaw second qtr at Kapunda played the rest of the game and collected 3 votes.
Catchard also up with the best of them.

Good footballer, but not tough.
A player who wears a long-sleeved guernsey should be immediately be struck any such list.

Interesting topic about the toughest player, very hard to gauge with so many good ones getting around over the years eg. Cachard, J Linke, Klienig Bros etc. For me the toughest was certainly Kym Lindner, despite what Beegrader says he was a very good player who I recall captained the blockies for a long time and had a stint at centrals. 2nd is the great Micky Schluter, now this man was tough and hard and also had some great dirty tricks up his sleeve. 3rd is the entire Willaston side through the late 80's and early 90's.

Yes Skip, hard to go past the amalgamated Jokers/Finks/Angels side of the 80's-90's.
The Donny’s still try and live the creed of that era.
