A bloke that had already signed with a GSFL club for 07 was just bought by Mt Barker. His names Scott Byrt, word has it the GSFL club would've and could've out bid the Barks but at the end of the day the player couldnt physically kick a drop punt as he is a basketballer, to top that off he never completed a training session due to a leg injury and couldnt play in any trials so was unrpoven.
Apparently he used to play for Mt Barker when they were red hot. Any confirmations of his ability etc??

Mt barker are throwing money out left right and centre, they are paying this bloke a car for a sign on fee and 350 a game!

Only info that I could say is that I know they are concerned with the number of players they have lost combined to Nairne, Macclesfield and Town to go with a number of players they lost the offseason before, so it would be fair to say that they could be struggling a bit for depth this year.
Don't know about the player mentioned but you'd think they would have done some sort of homework for that coin.

I think the roos are struggling for numbers as a guy I work with, who's been out of the game for quite some time, got a phone call the other night asking him to play.
Only for the b's mind you, but he said that they were a bit short.

We're playing Modbury.

We played them last preseason and won by 10 goals.

I'd say it will be closer this time at their ground.

Maybe 9 goals 5!!!!!!!!!!

My bad

Does anyone know which div Modbury are in, is it Div 3? Where did they finish last year?

They say the Hills league used to be regarded as the equivalent of Div 3 Amateurs, athough not quite as even, it's definately better these days though...just look at that Devils team, how could it not be?

yeah we belted a couple of div2 sides last year in trials and were clearly better (not that you take too much from trials) but i think it comes down to 'your only as good as ur weakest link' dare say the bottom div2 side wouldve towled up bridgy and IB last year as i believe there comp would be more even, not sure though as the bottom amature sides have normally come up from the div below. but overall id say now hills div1 would be more like div2 amats, than div3. how wouldve the top3 last year gone in a div1 amats comp??? havent seen much div1. i know we have alot of players who have been guns in that div but surely we wouldve been on the end of a couple of thrashings, what does everyone think. indian may have a good idea.

I think that the dev's would give it probably a top 4-5 finish in Div 1... the standard in hills is harder at the ball, where as div 1 is probably quicker and maybe a bit skillful.. but i say that the devils with there depth atm would give it a crack... div 2 isn't that good. you look at the devils mid field this year.. Nathan Peterson Gray, Trigger, Burch, Artis, Woody, White, Balldock, Racer .. just to name a few off the top of my head.. everyone there except balldock i think has played at least 50 reserves game and league for the Sanfl.. i think that a div 1 side woldn't have a mid field like that with this much experience...
it should be put to the test top four of div 1 to play a round robin series against the top 4 of the hills... that would solve this query..

surely the dev's wouldn't have asked that many div 1 clubs??
i think it was just easy to play modbury etc because of contacts between clubs?!?

i believe the dev's asked henely. but they declined.. contacts are a good thing but there are plenty in div 1 as well.. probably to get a winning confidence up in the side maybe.. not to say we are playing push overs.. modbury will be a good side this week...

Look at it from a Div 1 point of view. If they were to play us and lose, what would that say to other clubs about their prospects for the season?

Like I said, I think the Div 1 sides were scared of losing.

I spent a good portion of the weekend with you!
2W battled thru the tough times well, even when JQ had to translate for him!!
Good form on his behalf tho i think stuart helped him out a bit!
The sunflower did well also to tough out the weekend!!

Joke from GTS
Q - "what's blue and white and sits in a tree...?"
A - "A fridge with a denim jacket on!"

Bad form, only forgiven because it was 10:30pm on a mad monday!!
