SS explain to me how the Mortlock Shield works?

Is it 4 leagues playing against each other over a weekend?

its okay ernie. i think your a gun!

i agree on the association bandwagon. i reckon ALL players should get on board and have a crack. if you get injured, tough. people should take as much pride in their association, or zone, as they do about their club. unfortunately when people play for money, they arent necessarily playing for the love of their team, and more than likely wont be stuffed playing rep footy.

6 leagues.
Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Eastern Eyre, Mid West, Great Flinders and Far West.
Played by dividing the sides into two divisions, three teams in each
eg Div 1: Why, EE, MW and Div 2 PL, FW and GF

You play each team in your division once on Saturday in a match half the length of a normal game (two quarters rather than four) then the Sunday is left for rest while the under 15's compete in a similar format.
Then the monday games are played as 1st in Div 3rd v 3rd in Div 2, 2nd in Div 1 vs 2nd in Div 2 and the final played between the first ranked team out of their respective divisions.
Much like country champs but with a break day in between.

When poeple play for money they also have a contractual obligation to that club to play a year's football, thats why they're playing in that league in the first place.
If the league wants them to play, they can pay them too.
Families also use those weekends to travel.
It's not simply a case of not wanitng to play because of money, until you are put in that situation, you will struggle to understand that.

i do get paid from my club and i still play assoc and zone at every opportunity
it would be fantastic if the assoc did pay us our normal saturday payments though! would be tough for anyone who gets cash under the table though and you would also then be disclosing to the league exactly how much you get. rather than everyone assuming it on forums like these.

i normally appreciate, and make the most of, the free piss after the games though as my payments
and giving up a 'free' weekend is also an issue. but those of us who love association would play regardless i think
