tractor you follow nairne or hahndorf or someone else?

I don't really follow anyone really at the moment.
Been out of the game for about 6 years.
Just follow the league as a whole now.
Following mates' progress that now play for various clubs around the hills.

I think the big hitting, middle order batsman from Lofty would be ideal, a big full forward captain is what the club needs. There would have to be a few in the mix, Coats, Nugget, Sinkers, Brero, BDR to name a few.
Ron, with all due respect(geez I sound like Spenda) warby was all but prepared to walk out on the club 5-6 weeks ago, that might have given him a shot at shanty but not at a winning club.

spearhead that is very clever 4 u. mate ask warbo why he and other locals wanted to leave, not everyone is happy at lofty. as for shanty asking lofty to join together, believe they did speak to lofty last year. but lofty approached shanty first after the heavy loss to loby couple years ago and shanty still has the letter. so yes shanty did ask re joing the clubs together shanty was approached first a few years ago.
also heard birdwood have had 10 or so clearances out of the club! anyone confirm

Bazzw

Can you elaborate on the game??, interesting that apparently Jervois has won the last 3 flags in the river murray league. Could that be an indication of the difference between the two competitions.
How good is footy!

plus in div 2, the footy might not be as good, but the brawling is second to none!! gotta be ready for it when you have to play teams like callington, kersbrook and tv everyweek!! bunch of thugs!!
it's half the reason why we wanted to get outta there!

Nice one!

Yeah I wouldn't want to play CUE or Kersbrook regularly after some of the stories I've heard.

trust me it's crazy, the brawl at last years div2 GF, which i assume would've raised a mention on here was a disgrace, and not totally uncommon for some of these clubs.
at the very least birdwood will do well to get it's awesome junior program away from that and into a more professional comp

Rooster i can't remember reading about your AWESOME JUNIORS winning a flag last year????????

both u-14's and u-17's made the GF's but went down, i've been involved with the club for nearly 15 years, and birdwood have had one of or both their junior sides in the grandfinal almost every year. that is AWESOME juniors.

If jervois have one the last three flags ill go hee, they are about 10 months down on there fitness conditioning. they did have one lad who could take a good grab number 4 i think but dont quote me. it goes to show the drop off in the leagues. Big willy had a good debut, yellow carded to start up, it was good to see him hit the bloke from behind, true courage that. also inside 50 told me that poochy is quit his job in melbourne and might be coming back, whose the better Temme? coz pencil played good last night, and ive never seen poochie.

that's a load of crap if ever i've heard it, the fight was between meadows senior colts and kersbrook (men, women, children, asst.coaches, dogs and cats) and then heaps of other people from other clubs joined into break it up. birdwood had nothing to do with it. check your facts.

yeh Kangarilla v Ironbank game was played tonight/thisarvo. was twilight game.
Ironbank won 9.10 v 6.5.
Everyone has been talking about the pace of kangarilla but they were simply outrun by the small pacey rookies from Ironbank on the big Happy Valley oval. Chains of handballs, runs in numbers and then great delivery up forward. Recruit Greg Davies (CHF) broke arm in first minute of game meaning Ironbank had small forward line with Keeley and Schneider playing the presenting roles. So run was the order of the day. Kangarilla looked ok up forward with some taller players presenting well but in the end the run from half back told. Like i said not sure of the strenght og the Kangarilla team but on that effort they would be well off the pace in div 1. Certainly a much improved Ironbank team though. Hoepfully means push up the ladder and stronger hills competition on the whole.

Anyone else see the game? Are my observations fairly spot on?

Fair win by lofty over jervois. was meant to be closer than that was it not? were the line ups close to full strength. lofty will have to start playing afl teams in trials to get some competition.

well done to GF winners in HCA by the way :D Mite not be many comments from a few of the Mad Monday boys

I50... i think my point was we were short a couple of our big guys for the game and with Davies going down that was what we had to go with. Worked well in the end due to their pace and good delivery. But with others to come in they won't have to play in the key positions.

Muffy and Howesy both played. Both did some very nice things. Just warming into thisgs at this stage i'd say. Ironbank for the first qtr had Gazz Williams, Wendelbourne, Muffy, Howesy, Michael Hare, etc on the bench. was fair star studded bench.

Anyone know about Loxton Carnival. Blackwood apparently took up 3 teams?? I heard that they were oK although question marks over some of their big name recruits. 3-4 of them injured very early. Can anyone tell me about Kym Cobb- my mail was that he played for Blackwood in 20-20 matches and the Loxton Carnival- He was supposedly at Robe???

The jervoice team was at full strength. and only had about three changes from last years team. but not key players. I think that jervoice were very underdone in the fittness department. but also they did hold onto the ball too long. hills football must be alot faster than the murray league. and they didnt have the strength to break throughthe tackels.
next weeks game against modbury will be interesting. alot of devils out, and a grate chance to see some of the young fellas coming up. looks like good signs for the devils again this year. they all worked together very well and there was alot of communication on the oval.
