Would a bloke like Luke Evans be in the mix for a leadership role? His commitment is unquestionable, apparently taken more hits than this site when it comes to recent finals selection, but sticks around. Surely loyalty has some rewards. Perhaps he'd be justifiable in playing else where, but is a great club man. Is the ruckman that got dropped for the Grand final playing at Mt Lofty in 2007? Heard it caused a bit of bad feeling, possibly with a new coach, things have been patched up :?: :?: :?: :?:

I think the big hitting, middle order batsman from Lofty would be ideal, a big full forward captain is what the club needs. There would have to be a few in the mix, Coats, Nugget, Sinkers, Brero, BDR to name a few.
Ron, with all due respect(geez I sound like Spenda) warby was all but prepared to walk out on the club 5-6 weeks ago, that might have given him a shot at shanty but not at a winning club.

BDR would be a great choice I think. You gotta respect that blokes effort on the field. Runs all day and has no hesitation backing you up when a shanty belts you behind play. In fact, give him a Bundy and he becomes a shanty!

I think you'll find that BDR (Big Dumb Ruckman) is the ruckman you are talking about. GUN and probably unluckiest player in the HFL last year.

I rate Lukey Evans. Had good form at the end of last year and got shafted for finals for the 2nd year in a row.

what chances are people giving the mighty birdwood roosters of winning a game this year?
And if so, who would you reckon they'd beat?

its pretty hard to pick birdwood beating anyone this year bridgy and IB on last years form would be the only chances, maybe barker will be that bad this yr. will be interesting to see there year unfold.

BDR getting dropped for the GF was a complete joke the bloke hadnt lost a ruck tap all year, and that includes destroying the eventual mail medalist. and was perhaps the deciding factor in the change of coaches. but although he has dominated for the last two yrs if he was captain hed have to start talking. ha! and sinkers was captain he surely wouldnt be allowed to squeal like a girl everytime he kicks a goal.

come in spinner, evo certainly is a loyal man and has had massive disappointment in missing out in both of the supers flags, that must hurt, but cant see someone who isnt cemented in the side being captain.

IMO Andrew Brereton should be captain of the Mt. Lofty B Grade. Did well last year... and deserves the gig again.
also Tom Maslin would have to be knocking on the door for leadership group...

Maso couldn't be PM cos he's a bloodnut.

The Aussie public is very racist about bloodnuts!

I'd vote for him though. As long as he gave me a cushy govt job getting paid $200k per year and all the long lunches I want.

Interesting. Is there an embarrasing story behind that or is it just cos he dries the ball at cricket?

Welcome do Div 1 Rooster!

We will wait and see how you guys start the season before making any bold predictions but I can tell you that it will definately be different to what you are used to in Div 2.

I am looking forward to having a run on the velodrome again though :)

Good cod by Birdwood making the step up.

Gotta say though that I really cant see you guys winning a game in '07. You'll be better for the experince in '08 as long as everyone sticks around.

What is happening regarding jumpers when you blokes play Lofty? Last I heard is that at the League AGM the league left it to you two clubs to punch on in the car park for the right to wear the red and white! Fair enough too 'cause no one else really gives a toss if you both show up in pink tutu's to your clash! :P

Seriously though, has anything been finalised?

i reckon birdwood might shock a few as well.
if a team like lobethal or barker take them lightly i think they might get shock
the roosters have nothing to lose...and everything to gain!
who would have thought uraidla b grade would've made the GF last year after being beaten in the first final??
no regrets nothing to lose > the roosters may shock!
