As an outsider looking in the impression I get is that the league has gone downhill standard wise over the last few years, and that it is now relying a lot more on travelling players and some clubs are struggling to sustain this.
With this being the case, would it be better to do something about it early, and get some teams to join with the RFL and make a big strong league?
Both leagues could do with more teams to make them more interesting and I think the travel factor would not be a great issue, and in fact would be quite good fun. If this was done early enough I think a couple of Mallee teams could compete, but if it is left for too long I fear they will only be up to Independent standard.

If you haven't played football in the mallee you probably wouldn't understand why a team like Peake keeps perservering when most years they come bottom. If there were premierships for providing a warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere at a club Peake would have wall to wall pennants in their clubrooms.

i see what your saying mate but in all honesty i firmly believe the standard of the mallee A grade is getting better. for mine though there is no depth at all. take last year for example BDT went through underfeated because IMO they're bottom 5 players would walk in to any other A grade side yet probably no other sides bottom 5 players would if you get what i mean?
the standard of the B grade is also very low, saying this tho some sides have a couple of older heads who go well and a few young lads who are up and coming but all in all the standard is pretty bad.

Well said .... for these townships sport is all they have other than work and family as they are in remote areas. The work load that certain individuals take on from all clubs in the mallee football league is enormous and im sure as hell all clubs involved in the comp have massive amount of pride and will continue to push to keep this comp alive. I sure as hell have a great time playing there and have met some of the most genuine people your likely to come accross

Went to see how the RMFL boys played. Lynn is going to be very hard to stop up forward and Lewis Burns and O'Brien have terrific pace and carved up in the mid field. Harrowfield will give the side some real toughness. I know Peake have been easy beats for a while but on what I saw I cannot imagine them being at very least very competitive this year.

Berri had about 8 first choice A graders out but I know Murrayville had a few missing as well. Midfield looks very strong with the Goodwood boys who have played together in there before.
Pinnaroo smashed Moorook but not sure you can read anything in to that.
