We run amok, but still played some good footy. I think the problem with capping the age limit it takes the prestige out of it. Players are getting picked who are not necessarily the best going around. Shouldn't it be the best of the best?

My association side (bloddy hard!)

i remember two or three years ago their were quite a few bays players selected and they were not interested in playing or had already planned things on the basis that they thought they had the weekend off. They did rock up to the trainings or the game and lynton bishop the coach at the bay at the time suspended them for a week. Tough!!

Backfired on the bays coach though because the week after they lost and were missing probably their best backman and one of their best midfeliders due to his own suspension he put in place. Was a bit of a club joke at the time

Form so far from what I believe, otherwise new players to the league wouldn't be selected!

We have got 83 kids out at U15 association training tonight. Anyone know a good drill that incorporates 83 players?

Set them up 25m apart kicking end to end, anyone that cant hit the target 9/10 send them home then you will be down to a squad of 35!

Kappars the A grade squad wouldnt hit it that many times

Heres the A grade squad by the way
EBAY: O Love, R Love, R Rankine, A Philp
SAINTS: Trent Griffen, T Russell, B Yeomans, Travis Griffen
LANGHORNE CREEK: S Rothe, F Hill, T Dellatore, M Footner, B Mcleod, T Watson, M Tonkin, N Warren
Mt COMPASS: A Crate, S Maxfield, N Brokenshire, D Webb, N Schmidt, G Bailey
MYPONGA: N Hutchinson, T Humphrys, N Hassan
MCLAREN: B Smith, E Schneider
STRATHALBYN: J Richardson, R Tucker, J Hickey, M Elliot, B Nisbett, J Eagleton, D Pegler, M Ellis, S Mcdonald
VICTOR HARBOR: M Hodge, C Jurek, A Topley, B Ruge, L Saunders
WILLUNGA: W Glass, C Dobson, B Haskett, A Mcdonald, J Toone, A Williamson, M Portlock, S Ryan, D Hams, M Thomas
YANKALILLA: A Cook, Michael James, Matthew James, M Wilson.

Coach is Michael Simmons!

If everyone makes themselves available it will be a very good side, plenty of pace and skills but a little on the short side. With the game being at Strath i thought the selectors would have gone a little taller.

I can't believe you've got such a huge squad. Were players nominated by their own club? If so it's surprising that each club nominated 8 players (on average).

Association squad was pickd primarily by Simmo I am told; no coaches were asked for input and players who turned down the opportunity last year were not invited this year in the main - yes there may be a few exceptions to this.
Personally I'd like to see an Open Age Game and then maybe an u/23 side go at it, bugger the under 25 shit. Instead play the best of the best - after all why copy a shit comp like the SAAFL. Young players had their window of opportunity to play rep footy in the years leading to 25 so why cut out those who have played A'grade footy in the same/similar associations for years at a decent standard? I imagine the concept started due to the RMFL paid players refusing to play in association games so rather than invoke a penalty or instead supply incentive by way of making the game a major event they went with U/25s and the GSFL followed suit. At the end of the day the GSFL could send up 21 blokes with helmets on who sit in the back of the bus and lick the the windows all the way to the bridge and they'd still win. Actually you boys should just send your junior colts.

I certainly would not have picked 83 players. I think McLarens have 13 in the squad. Its great to give everyone a go but it makes it hard to have a constructive training session. As for the U25's its obvious that clubs were not asked otherwise they would not have picked 4 unavailable players from the Saints.

BJ, are you thinking of anyone specific that you would have included?

What a load of absolute dribble! I think you need to lay off the magic mushies your obviously picking from the forests in Mt Compass as you drive through to Encounter Bay!

Lovelock Shield was always a good concept. Whatever happened to that Shield?

See Compass have signed a big forward by the name of Cheetham from North Adelaide. May add some spice to the game this week against Strathalbyn.
