I believe there will be only a win or 2 between 6th and 10th. 2013 promises to be a very even year which is great for the comp.

Mail Medal: Tyson Davis Neale (Enc Bay)
Runner Up: Zac Ewer (Victor)

and the GSFL to absolutely wallop the SFL in the association game in June. (please pick a full strength side, none of this U21 rubbish). bring back the rivalry!!!

We played them in a trial last week and they looked to have a good side, couple really good mid fielders, one called cuz and not sure the other blokes name, may have been wearing number 19,

things are definitely looking the goods at strath!couple new faces but mostly the same side that finished off last season!
ben cousins had a good game and will no doubt be looking to back up his best and fairest win from last season. No 19 would have been mark tucker who always racks up a few possies!
new coach has got the team looking fit and fairly well drilled

Russell Tucker and Daniel Pedlar are back?

8.GOOLWA-have spent some coin but like the 2 above them will miss out just!

I think you meant saved rather than spent

I reckon the ladder will be (bloody hard to pick). We could well see the bottom few winning 5 or 6 games again. Expect a real log jam from 3rd through to 10th

Creeks
Yank
VH
Willunga
Goolwa
Bays
Strath
Compass
Myponga
McLaren

Mail Medal: Rugolo Goal Kicking: Iljescen

I think we are all agreeing that it is gonna be another close comp which is great. Interesting to see mclaren drop from 5th last year to bottom in most people's tips. Heard a rumour yesterday that they nearly had butcher but he went to Willinga instead $.
Strath haven't recruited anyone we have just been working on getting all our locals back from our 08/9/10 gf squads. Kenyon & Pegler will play a lot more for us this year plus russel tucker up fwd will give us a good target. Adam lee is back also but has it on a few kgs. Must have been on plenty of mypongas dairy products the last two years
As for Blackwell not sure? Knee injury might hold him back wait & see would be nice if it happened.
Ladder tips
Yank
Creek
Willunga
Victor
Strath
Bays
Goolwa
Myponga
Mclaren

Mail medal tip Mcgregor, runner ups Davis neale, & Scott wendelborn (expect to see some hangers from him)

Anyone read todays southern argus? Interesting reading re yank having a whinge about the points sysytem not being able to fit new players in there a grade. Yankallila being a smaller town & struggling with junior numbers. I find it strange them winging since they have finished in the top 5 the last 3 years since it was introduced. The creek i know didn't vote for the points system & they have gone back to back.
2 time l/creek premiership youngster jake ashton place has been cleared to yank since he is living that way now but will play in the 2's most of the year. Would win the reserves medal easily if it happens. Unfortunately rules are rules, if he wants to play a grade he will just have to drive back to the creek each week!
I know of victor maybe having to play a snr colt each week, you would expect yank and creek also having to do this. Does anyone else expect to be over the points allocation this year?
Strath probably only going to use 5pts total similar to last year.

Interesting rumour. But the only problem with rumours is that most of them ending up being false, as is the case with this one. Think you'll find Butcher went to Willunga to have a greater chance of success and to play with his good mate, Luke Stewart.

Well, clearly you don't know too much, Muffler. As far as I understand, McLaren was never likely to be a possible destination. It was either head to Willunga and play with his mate or stay on and play with Onkas in the Hills. A few ex-Flaggy boys are now playing at McLaren so I can see the link, but I'm pretty sure that's all there is to it. Gotta love rumours with no evidence to substantiate them....but I guess that's what forums are for.

Also does anybody know of any rule changes this season in GSFL?
Talking to blokes in other leagues etc they think that the ruck rule in which you start a metre away from the ruck man around the ground, also the slide in rule is in action?

Specky, Muffler is 100% spot on. Buthcer's mates that are at McLaren are disappointed as they only agreed to play because he was going there and changed his mind at the last minute. Who are the ex-Flaggy players since you seem to know a fair bit?

Lose 8 gain 4. Simple

No rule changes this year in gsfl, except from April 1st all div 1,2,3 players will be points. Players cleared prior to that will be 0.

Looking forward to tomorrows local derby down at Yank. No doubt it will scrappy early but I can't see either side holding back. Not sure why Yank are worried about the point system - they've been the best at it since it's started and will play finals for a 5th straight year. Can't wait!

Also heard that a Willunga player snapped his achilles at training. Terrible injury.

You must be kidding, right? Adam Vonow would be the mate in question, but seeing as he has played at McLaren for 3 years, I highly doubt he said he was only going to play if Butcher came on board. Nice story though. What I can assure you is there was never an agreement between McLaren and the lad. That is 100% spot on! As I said before, it was only ever going to be Willunga or Onkas.

Anyway, I'm sure there are much more exciting things to talk about with Rd 1 just around the corner. Good luck to all involved!

4.WILLUNGA-Probs the great mans last hurrah picked up a gun forward but not enough to win it
5.STRATH-new coach vfl, sanfl player will get the redmen up and firing but only by % finals bound
6.BAYS- exciting last year at times not enough to challange some good ins but a major out7.COMPASS-huge improvers late last season shaped the 5 some big outs but could surprise
8.GOOLWA-have spent some coin but like the 2 above them will miss out just!
9.PONGY-improved list will win more games this year so no clay shooting til seasons end
10.MCLAREN-could end up anywhere from 6th to last have picked up a ex sturt forward.........

Looking forward to a great year there will be no floggings with most margins being below 5 goals a great comp.3 new coaches so it will be interesting to see how they go and the 2nd year fellas go at the bays, compass and mclaren.

I heard it wasn't Butcher who committed to Mclarens but rather the people he knew from there saying he would play. Also heard that the mclaren coach would ring him 7 times before lunch if he didn't answer his phone calls due to being at work.
