Hot off the press MAL GREENWOOD to coach the Freeling Redlegs in 2010.

May I ask where or who you heard this from?

Hancock I heard this from the man himself plus I think if you ask anyone in Freeling they will know by now and yes eichner is with us next year..

Greenwood great pick up for Freeling. Amazing isnt it. Very good farming year and big return from a final - who says you dont buy a flag. Nobby's pethetic argument that Freeling were given so many imports on the proviso that they developed junior footy. 3 grand finals - 2 wooden spoons - back up spending again this year. Great development but good luck.
Also understand from my Freeling source that he has cost them a packet - around 25K!!! Plus other players like Eichner and he will bring Schubert - the Freeling boys will need another final next year. Did Kapunda offer anything for Greenwood? They were probably too tight like usual.

I did know about Greenwood, though I would think new coaching appointments such as this one should be kept under wraps for some time.

No doubts a good farming year helps, but I reckon Freelings junior development is better than you give credit for. The 17's have been good for 2 years and probably should have gone further, except for a lack of finals experience. I'd expect that the 15's would finish in the top three next season, and the modie grades are strong.
Some good kids were blooded this year, but they need good experienced players around them to flourish . They can play a flank or pocket for a couple of years instead of being thrown to the wolves in a KP. Then when they have some experience, these guys will be capable of taking on more responsibility

Drifter, can you confirm the greenwood appointment?
As for your juniors things do look good, with the housing boom taking place and more families moving in things are encouraging for the community.
Did happen to see some modies games this year and a couple of boys there look real good :D
One played in white boots and could play anywhere, while the other i noticed lurked close to goals but whenever he got the ball goals would eventuate!! Seems to be a crowd favourite down there, often heard the calls of "motlop" when the ball in his hands.

Motlop as we call him is a real star, good kid.
As for Greenwood, he was at the Freeling Hotel yesterday and managed to have a few words with him.

Toronto,
can confirm the Greenwood appointment is true. Has signed on for 2 years as a playing coach. Eichner, Mensforth and Kemp have re- signed. Should be a few more announcements in the next week.

Yes, he signed with us a few years back when Port were giving him the sh*ts, hadn't played a game for us and came asking for a clearance to Waikerie for more money.
Now that's loyalty if ever I've seen it! Pig's Ar$e!!! :o
