I dont think karoonda have a budget, points system or salary cap. I guess thats what happens when they run the show.

Are you saying LH runs his own ship? ;)

He's got more pull in that league than Oprah has in Australia at the moment, (Not saying its all above board though).

i hear the butcher from karoonda gave the CHOP to young kane mcdonald as he couldnt SNAG him to play at karoonda? but i guess its a bit differant to being on a STEAK out at the front of a high school like last year :shock: . well if you MEAT with enough blokes you'll sign a few of them.

any news on the points system, who gets what?i'm under the impression a couple of clubs think the system won't be inforced, have spoken to people from two of the other clubs and they will be making sure these clubs play by the rules or loose the points, sounds like fun and games are about to start!!!

Is a points system in the Mallee League something thats only just been brought in, or has it been planned since the end of the 2010 season? If Karoonda have signed as many players as has been speculated on here, it will be interesting to see how they manage their points.

i believe the points system is in this year i was hoping someone would post who gets what. but the mallee is a league i dont believe the points system will work in as the population of the towns just is'nt up to putting 2 sides out on the park.

take peake for example the population would be about 40 or 50 and most of them are 100years old! or non playing farmers. i believe there are only about 6 or 7 'peake' locals that play. so they have to get blokes in even just to fill the B grade.

i'd go with;

BDT 6-8 points like they need anymore help (winning a GF by 100points)
karoonda 8-10 points making the GF having a good year
pinneroo 9-11 points were the best of the rest although with some older blokes surely finishing soon
murrayville 10-12 points dont need a hell of alot of help although the distance away does hurt them
lameroo 16-18 points have some very good kids coming through u/17 premiers
peake 20-22 points 8 or 9 of the last 10 wooden spoons speaks for itself lost 3 of there best 5 from last year.

the above points i've taken in to account population, distance from adelaide, juniors and last years results. BDT basically need nothing they didnt lose a game probably should only get 4-6 points!. karoonda had a good year close to the bridge good club culture would'nt need a lot more to be there abouts again. pinneroo again have a good core group the above points is about right IMO. murrayville nearly beat BDT twice so that tells me they have some talent there maybe just need a top up. lameroo have some good kids coming through u/17 premieres and started to play well in the later part of the year. peake as i said 8or9 of the last 10 spoons lost alot more than they've gained cant see anything changing this year to last where they finished bottom.

Word has it Mallee league are pushing Karoonda, Murrayville & Peake for total amount of 25 points & other teams to get 15. If this is the case (& has come from a reliable member of the Mallee league committee) its going to make it hard for teams like Mannum & Tailem that live on the border of these clubs.

surley introducing a points system into the mallee league would not be healty for the league, i know this seems byest bcoz im a karoonda lad but just in general i wouldnt have thought it would be a good idea

great system for MOST LEAGUES, but would have thought the Mallee was not one of them. Could spell end of a few clubs, which is an injustice to the people who have worked so hard to keep them running!!

Sure Karoonda are fine right now, but they have a heap of imports! What happens when/if they leave especially if its a mass exodise? I'm sure peake & Murrayville are in the same boat
