which is my point re:kersbrook being so strong in '07. i think most in this forum underestimate the vast difference in ability proven AFL and SANFL players have over even the best country footballers. Especially when there is a group of them. Dew, James x2, and Fracou are all proven AFL quality players, P.James is a quality SANFL player, plus add to that any other league quality recruits they get (which i can gaurantee there will be some).. and you have an amazing side.

true... if dew and francou, don't play much or are just there for a social kick, than it's a different story. But if they play at even 75% of their ability, they will be the best players running around.. both divisions.
trust me i played against dew when he was 17.. he was pudgy then.. and dominated!!

Just keep telling yourself that johnny.

The proof will be in the pudding and my guess is the brookers will be going without dessert by September. I reckon it will be business as usuall - close but no cigar.

Yeah, he played some games for the Eagles in 2004 when they made the GF.

It's silly anyone saying he's no good. He's proved himself in the hills as far as I'm concerned.

Why dont you come to the Devils next game and ask him?

He's the only one that will be able to give you the answer you are looking for.

Gee does it bear fruit that you may have played with a SANFL club which was down the ladder at that particular stage? Can remember Sturt having its great run of spoons in the 1990s, which involved the likes of James May, Rick Hannam, John Richter, Mark Bartlett, Peter Heinrich, and the like ... all of whom would be judged as pretty handy footballers, and more than proved that in Hills company. Gee, some club has to finish bottom, doesn't mean the players who are chosen are average footballers. I guess they don't give gooses medals.
Kersbrook mite have a few names, but we all know it's a different ball game up in the Hills. Conditions, way of delivery, umpiring .. all a bit different. Haven't we seen the likes of Cook, Ordinary-Allen, Bond turn up and be a bit of a flop?

Exactly M80. I think it was you that put the post up about association selections, which is the key point in the matter.

Selection ratios are usually 90-10 in favour of Div 1 which shows that yes there are talented players in Div 2, but they are few and far between in comparison to Div 1.

We will only really know the extent of the gap at the end of the season when Birdwood has played everyone home and away, but I don;t think it will be pretty for them.

I don't think anyone is saying that div 2 is better than div 1 (they would be an idiot if they did!!) but what people are saying is that they don't think the gap between the two div's is as big as what the div 1 supporters are saying. Is it safe to say that there wouldn't be too many div 1 supporters on this forum that have seen more div 2 games than that they can count on one hand?

I know of quite a few div 2 supporters that try and get to see as many div 1 games as they can to watch the better quality football so they actually have better grounds to argue the issue.

correct with the association post DA. that was going on the years i was involved with the lovelock shield. most years there would only be 2 players from div 2 that made the actual playing team for the w/e. even though the standard has well and truely changed from my day but in 83 when the 2 divisions were one not one div2 team defeated a div1 team that year. all it did was create 2 100 goal goalkickers ( francis and williams) and 40 goal victory training runs
