You guys can't be serious! Obviously one-eyed I may be, but Scott McArdle??? Puuhlllease!!!! Matt Oliver has had so much more influence on the comp than him! I bet you weren't expecting me to say that! Surely premierships, and influence in the games that matter, are what shows a player's true worth! And credit where it's due, in Balak's back to back years of 99 and 00, he was worth every penny. Since then however, one Jared Wilson would have a record comparable with the greats of most competitions I'm sure! Five premierships now, BOG in 2001 GF, premiership captain in 2003, playing premiership coach in 05, 06 and now 08, including Saturday's Lazarus-like effort to return in the second half and win the game for the Eagles despite what looked like a game-ending (if not career-ending) knee injury. Another chapter was written Sat'dy lads, I just hope it isn't the last one! I still remember the GF in 06 when the Peckers were coming at us, and we just needed one more goal to keep them at bay, and the ball ended up in Jazz's hands in front of the scoreboard at Mallala, and just when we needed him he stepped up and delivered. There's some blokes you want to have the ball in that situation, and he is first in my mind. I had to apologize to him after the game that I couldn't give him the congrats he deserved out on the field, I was done! Pretty hot that day!

And you have a dig at Moon Unit for being biased when selecting Scott McArdle. Come on mate! In my opinion I would rate Brahamy higher than Jazz. Not saying Jazz isn't top class, but Brahamy works harder. Matt Oliver definately up there, along with Todd Thorne and Nathan Schubert.

Sorry Droppie, pretty sure I said I was the one being biased??!! I just didn't rate his selection! Like I said, I was using premierships (note the plural) as a qualifier, and everyone knows United FC have been the biggest under-achievers in that regard, especially considering the coffers available, and used. Point taken on Brahamy, no one works harder than him, as was the case Sat'dy, but as far as football talent goes (which I think was the original question), Jazz has got him covered. It was no coincidence that the only GF the Eagles have lost in their recent run was when he was OS. Having said that, if you had 18 little fellas out there every week, you wouldn't lose too often. You wouldn't want the ball in the air much though!

Of course, not all great players are premiership players so certainly Boo Eddy (who towelled me up one day at Wakey), and Cheeky Seccafien deserve a mention. I'm not sure if Cheeky wasn't a premiership player, he was around for a long time before I was playing senior footy! Didn't the Wells win one in the 80's? He was probably involved in that? Can anyone confirm?

yes he did play in a premiership back in the late 80's. think he deserves more then a metion, not many players with 7 A grade best and fairests. derserves a gold statue
