GSFL Movements

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Or perhaps an interested member of the football public involved with a neighbouring league and formerly of the GSFL but lets be honest; who gives a shit.

Yank would've been in party mode while McLaren will be wandering how it all happened? Interesting games between the mighty Roos and Compass and Strath apparently run all day with Mypo keeping up early on only to be run over excessively.

Friday night game will be great to watch.

Looks like Teflon coated is a bay die hard!
I heard the game on the weekend was a battle to the end and at times good footy to watch and other times terrible footy to watch.
I did hear that a certain player was a disgrace to the Encounter Bay football club, last season he broke the jaw of a saints player and claimed it to be accidental but from what has been said of his actions on the weekend it was proven that all he wanted to do was give out cheap hits to young small guys behind play all day. Is this true LF or are we hearing stories?
On the other game thats the big talk Willunga V Creek, Ryan up forward makes hams look human this guy's contested mark and kick at goal is very good to say the least.
Friday night Creeks have the chance to turn thing around against a red hot Strath out fit that has had two big wins to open there account for 2008, can the creeks match it with the roosters?
BJ what has happened to your neighbours this season? That would have to be the first time in their short time in the GSFL they have been beaten by Yank I think.

With McLaren finding the going tough in the GSFL, does that mean they will jump ship next year? Might be time to try the Hills or RMFL?

To clarify, Rankine played in round one for the Bays and by league experience I was referring to being at a league club. No contradictions at all on my behalf and to be sincere how the hell would I know why players are getting refused etc? I'm not a league delegate if thats what you are trying to refer to.
I'm still not sure if you understand what has been said, the players who have gone to the bay are apparently only using the club as a home club for when they do not have SANFL duties. Is that a crime or negative? Without being rude, what is your point?! I believe Encounter Bay blooded yet another senior colt on the weekend just gone if the papers anything to go by. Panther is that a contradiction also?

I think that's actually an interesting question TC. What are other people's thoughts on this? Would you be better off to recruit players to go through the whole pre season and season with the club, or players who come back 3 or 4 times a year and play? Me personally I would want players there all year round. Especially if I was a local who had played all year to then lose my spot to an import coming back from SANFL reserves. If the club says they are going to blood some local blokes and juniors then they should stick to that. Surely the club members could see the long term benefits in this.
It's great to see that even with all the losses that EB have started well and a couple of youngsters are playing. I know of one player down there who was a star in one game who looks to be getting a kick, young Tommy Hooper, this kid is the next Buddy Franklin!
TC, seeing as you know everything at the club, yet are just an outsider from another league, who was the new young kid who played? Was that J Prest?

Big Bomber is in a better spot than Hamsy fitness wise, come later in the season they will both be firing on all cylinders and to Hamsys defence he has still kicked 11 in 2 games, on the weekend could have easily kicked 8 or 9 had his radar been on early! Steve is a great bloke and has some great ideas and advice for everyone at the club and brings a fresh approach to the game for us.

Strath v Creeks will be a belter and i look forward to having a look. Creeks were hard at it and gave an honest effort all day last weekend but didnt have the height to match it with us which ended up seeing Tim Follett playing down back on Hamsy. Injuries to Warren and James (i think he got injured) didnt help the Creeks cause at all and hopefully they are firing on all cylinders this week so we see a great game on Friday.

Mclarens who knows whats goin on down there. Not sure if its a by-product of a bad management of young guys coming through the grades over the past years as there junior sides have matched it with everyone in both grades since they joined the league. More scoring shots than Yank tho and i suspect they probably should have won it if it werent for there bad kicking for goal. Great to see close contests over the weekend!

Yank have done well against Mclaren since they joined the GSFL. I reckon they've got at least 4 or 5 wins, which is good when Mclaren have finished above them on the ladder every year (I think).

Worrying signs for Mclaren though, they could be headed for their first spoon in Great Southern

Fella I may have been talking out of turn however I was only posting about the Encounter Bay Footy Club for a chat from my knowledge of the place and people there. It is good to see them getting off on the right foot as all I've managed to catch wind of is people writing them off however in saying that they still have no beaten a team that finished above them in 07 so its still early days. My previous discussion with you Panther have been about the use of imports;p I don't see a problem with blokes choosing to use a country club as a home club when striving at playing at a higher level; you seem to be saying that if a bloke choses to play at a league club then stuff him he shouldn't be able to play anywhere else? What a load princess, I bet whatever club your from would gladly include a player of ability. It just so turns out that I actually know some people around the traps and the three names involved in this case are all country kids originally from Whyalla and Sydney (yes the clearances say local to Adel, however they have not played and prefer country footy). I know at my club if we get one bloke back for a few games from the WWTFC he will gladly slot straight in.

Okay so seeing as now it's all hearsay from you, maybe Cuzzy could tell us about the new young kid and confirm whether it was J Prest who you are talking about? Also Cuzzy, was that the same Jenkins that played B grade last year at the club who got in the best players on the weekend? That's a fair effort if it was! Go Jenks!
How are the injuries looking down there Cuzz? I saw someone on hear said Scotty went down and also Owen hurt himself? Will they be good to go against Compass?? You can PM me if you don't want any Compass people to know!

Panther32 the guy your talking about probably won't be playing A grade this year, he will be very handy in the B's as I reckon he kicked at least six goals on the weekend.

McLaren's A's had four or five easy shots at goal on the weekend which were all missed.
They will definately be having goal kicking practice this week.

Yeah I heard it was due to a new family member arriving and needing to spend more time at home which is understandable. Is it possible the coach could be a little bit more lenient with his training schedule to allow him to play A's or is this already a discussion that's been had?

Yeah its that and I also think he's had enough of playing A grade.
He's had a few nasty injuries over the last year or so and I also think he likes the fact that he doesn't need to play in the ruck anymore.

Well apparently he showed on the weekend that he shouldn't be a player!

Bassani is good for the competition, as he offers a different perspective to football in the GSFL. Bays were never predicted to figure in the finals this year, yet he has them 2 from 2. 10 wins and a good percentage could see you in the 5 so they are on their way. It looks like Willunga and the rest fellas. The Hawks are the only team to challenge them for the past 2 years and now they have been belted, is it Strathalbyn's turn to lay down the challenge? Friday night will explain a fair bit. Good to see the Tigers stand up.
