Thats true, there is a story that comes to mind, but it is a little R rated, not suitable for this forum.

It also doesnt relate to football so the footy forum nazi would be on my back!!!!

Especially when there was a suggestion that some of these "paid players" could be playing B Grade. The fact is the Bays have submitted 20 odd clearances for players to join their club so of course people are gonna think that they're getting some sort of financial incentive to sign the clearance form. If that is the case then a few of those 20 players are going to play B Grade at some stage because there are already more than a handful of A Grade standard players at the club even with the likes of McLean, Hough, Rolfe & Jagodnik that have left.
You can throw in Gigney,Smart,Butler is Modra going to play these are big outs they have recruited a lot of players but can they replace the quality of their outs. You are a very learned man you no I respect your opinion.

Personally boys I think that all teams in the GSFL will look and shape up a little bit differently in 2007. So far word on the street are the big improvers will be McLaren, Strath (they didnt need much), Compass and the Ponga's.
To us all this simply means that unless the wheels full off the Bays then there will be very tight tussel for 3rd, 4th and 5th spot.
Will thompson play for Willunga? Not much that Willunga can take out of there trials so far, Im sure they will continue to set the pace however the Creeks will learn a lot from 06 and may just become the early pace setters. Im tipping the top five to be (in no order):

Creeks
Ponga's
Strath
Willies
Bays

The Bay jugonaut will take a while to build, very new side with up to 15 inclusions and more coming from round 5 onwards including Cahill and Zwar back into the line up from injury.

I can't believe how much talk has gone on about Encounter Bay and their paid players! Just because there are a number of clearances on the list doesn't mean that all are being paid and it doesn't also indicate how much any of them are getting paid! Even if they were 15 new blokes and they were all getting petrol money, that would be no where near what other clubs are paying their players!
How do you not know that some of these players are playing well under what they should deserve purely for the fact that they are loyal to either the new coach or other team mates, new or existing??? One thing everyone must remember is that football is very much a game of mateship as well and looking through all the topics it's clear to see that mates play their footy wherever their mates are playing, even if it is for less, or nothing.
And to state that the new coach as promised more than the club can deliver is ridiculous! I'm pretty sure the club would have an idea as to what their budget is and take this into consideration when sitting down and signing a contract!!!
Also remember that every club recruits, so if you look at the clearances every club has new players. When the Bays lost about 8 players, then these players need to be replaced, therefore a higher number of clearances are on the list.
Lets see how the team does after three or four rounds and then we can start patting them on the back for good recruiting or we can start bagging the sh*t out of them, the new players and the new coach!!!
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

It will be very interesting to see how Willunga go without Thommo playing, if that is still the case.

A loss to Encounter Bay, Modra has agreed to play footy at Keith. Believes there is better chance of succes with them.

Not sure if money was a factor in this decision.

If Peter ZWAR IS AN INDICATION OF THE QUALITY OF ENCOUNTER RECRUITING THEN THEY ARE IN FOR A VERY LONG YEAR. He played B grade last year for Port Districts, B grade in 2005 for Gepps Cross and B grade in 2004 for PHOS camden. He is however like the new coach in that they can talk themselves up but if you look at their track records you will see that both are very ordinary players with very poor playing careers and have a history of moving from one year to the next as their true ability is exposed.
The coach has no credibility either as a player(played B grade A4 Amateur footy for Athelstone) or as a coach and is simply a good salesman with a silver tongue who will be exposed as a charlatan once games commence.

will have to agree with footynut on that comment.
the coach is very good at talking himself up, has jumped from club to club for a while now and i cant believe clubs dont do their homework better. Not a very loyal club man, just up for the dollar and everything falls in a hole, wont be suprised if he jumps ship.
he could very well prove me wrong but I DOUBT IT!!!!!
