It would be interesting to know where the Willunga juniors go after they fininsh senior colts, because they are not playing As.

Did Burgess ever player junior footy with them?

Thats is only way he could be a 1 pointer. i must add that the Saints really dont have a big issue with this because Strath would have been under the points allocation, but things needed to be soughted out early in the season before it does potentailly become a problem. Also before anyone asks why Ben Fennell is a 1pointer, he has not played for a period of 2 years!

Both boys can play. Matty spent a season at Myponga and was awesome in the middle or on a wing. Great bloke too

Come on TC, get serious, the only reason the Bays played juniors is because they couldn't get any recruits till late and their clearances haven't come through yet! You have another 4 blokes waiting to get cleared! There's another 12 points there!
And to say that the only reason you have recruited those three young blokes from Port is for the future is a load of BS. The club tried the same thing last year with three young country blokes and all three of them have left the club.
And there is a slight difference between Willunga and the Bays champ, EB have lost about 8 of their A grade team from last year, Willunga have lost maybe one. That's why they are only using up 23 points on game day![/quote]

Not only is this post misdirected is contradicts earlier posts from others on Encounter Bay looking to youth instead of overpaid imports in 08. I can't speak for last year only what I see and hear this year at this club and a few others in the league. I don't think I have compared Willunga and Encounters abilities more so them being the lowest two clubs in terms of points use on the weekend but thankyou for the call of 'champ', seeing that you notice my abilities makes me feel successful.

How many points would that be TC as I understand Creeks only had 21 points with no Snr colts so every player was either a local or played last season, watch this week though you could see some points come in.

Langhorne Creek actually had 20 points on the weekend with Tom Johnson coming up from the Senior Colts to make his A Grade debut. I'm not sure who you think is coming in this week to boost our points up kappars or were you referring to EBay??

It's hard to recruit blokes once the season's started! (unless you're Lindsay Bassani).. The main thing is that we've got strong numbers with about 6 or 8 going to be missing out on a game of 2's this week. We may have lost some big names such as King and the like but we've still got a very capable, young A Grade side that has the potential to be playing a big part in what happens in September.

The contradiction came from those who said the club was going to focus on the local young guys only to then go on a late recruiting drive.
You tried to use the comparison with Willunga with the amount of points both clubs used last saturday. Now having a look at the list of players who played that day and the amount of players on the GSFL website who didn't play, i'm sure once all those players come on board you won't be any where near 23 points!

That is admirable limb and certainly contradicts the comments of the past that the Creek just go out and buy players, but to be real they need a couple of key players if they are to match Willunga. 20 points would have to be the lowest in 2008.

The creeks will be a handful this week we have no doubts about that. They still have the running power that has been there strength and with these young guys the enthusiasm will be there and the payback card will definitely be played im sure. Im looking forward to a close encounter in both A and B grade so get down to Willunga oval and have a look to see a good game of footy.

Willungas points i believe on the weekend were 21. Ryan hasnt played footy for 2 years either if my memory serves me correctly.

Panther what club are you from? I'm not sure I follow your point? I was simply stating that prior to my time on this forum there were posts about Encounter Bay playing locals and senior colts first etc. From where I stand this is a good thing, then they appear to be on the path of doing this and your on here telling me they're not? Maybe the players mentioned that are being cleared to the club are only going to play cameo roles throughout the season; if this is the case I reckon it would be good for the locals to play with league listed footballers when given the chance don't you? You seem to be somewhat of an expert on a couple of leagues, possibly you can pick an opinion and stick to it; maybe even give some clubs like Encounter that you have a grife with a call as I think all clubs need to know where they can improve.

Thank god for the Anzac Day clash, the public holidays means I can catch my first game of footy for the year and head to Strath; who wil get up by a kick.

So basically your saying you will play local kids until the weekends that your imports can play and then your locals that have done the preseason and all the hard work will get pushed back to the B grade? How is that going to help them? I'd say your clutching at straws here TC...

panther, you seem to hold this league very close to your heart given your amount of posts and interest, why dont you consider a comeback to bayland!

my tips
Mclaren - 8 goals
Strath - would love love to see pongy win but
Victor
Willunga - to many players gone for creeks
Bays - 40+ points over goolwa (john jarrad to get to agititaded by his old team mates and do a Barry Hall)

Maybe when that coach of yours moves on!
Great call with JJ, would be great to see Bass chuck Blummy in the ruck against him!

Hey Cuzzy It will be interesting to see how JJ goes about his game on saturday, I dont think you will see him and Blummy having too many big issues together last time I seen either of these two they were playing BBall together and then at the pub together. The saints would be well aware of the JJ issue and will be on top of it I would imagine.

yeah was more a bit of a joke, think johnny will be cracking a few jokes out on the ground and im sure the boys will just be mucking around. You never know maybe if the bays smash goolwa by over 40+ points like i predict jarred, dycer may be asking to come back.
