Also heard that the Ramblers will loose a few players too. Heard that none of the players were given any free drinks on the night of the GF win, even after winning the 1st premiership in 20 years! That's a poor effort on behalf of the club and may be the reason why Button and Morris go play for Sturt and Matthews and a couple of others walk out.
Not much happening at Jervois, from what I hear from a few of the boys is that the coach hasn't even spoken to the players about next season! Is he that confident that they will stay around again???

where is Matthews going and who are the others leaving as well?? i think you'll find all the lads got free meals/booze on the preso night to make up for it so dont think there were to many complaints.

Jervois have thrown big dollars at a couple of SAAFL Div 1 players who are not worth the $500 per game on offer.

Jervois havent spoken to anyone from the SAAFL. Most of the group are staying on so there wont be any big name recruits in 09, a couple of the coaches mates may come for a kick.

Spoke to the great man Mervyn Kartinyeri during the week and he is definately playing at Tailem Bend in 09. He did say that Smelty had talked to him but he told him the same thing, Tailem it is to collect life membership.

Apparently he has already begain PRE-preseason training with some Murray Bridge based Tailem boys.

Yeah they will be GWW. Both guys are good coaches, but I just think Sammy struggled a little trying to coach from the field and to be honest, I don't think anyone can do it well! With Wayne taking on more responsibility which he couldn't do last year, I think the club will be in very good hands.

While on players staying at clubs spoke to Damien Garrett during the week & he will be staying at Imps. Was approached by 3 clubs to coach but wants to work under Fielke. Imps have set up a gym in their changerooms which sounds a great idea.

at the moment i would have to say Imps will be right back up there with Ramblers next yr, and maybe even past them, i heard on the grape vine last night that Tyson Matthews is leaving Ramblers and Murray Bridge i didnt hear were to or anything but i heard this from fellow ramblers. If he goes his mates will follow he brought a few people to the club.

But Imps are my early early favourite for next yr, they will be the powerful running side they were back in 98,99 with starting there preseason late october.
people this yr were saying this club was a joke, well there is no joking around this time i think it was handy there arch rival Ramblers winning the cup this yr because now Imps wanna get bigger and better and show there the power house in murray bridge.

WAIT AND C BOYS THEY BLUES WILL BE BACK

With all this talk about the Murray Bridge teams, I think its time the others got a go!!

Mypolonga- Runners Up in 2008 & without a doubt will be strong again in 2009, yes lost a couple of very good players but still are a young list with plenty of improvement in them. Would be a major surprise if they dont shape the top 3.

Jervois- Seem to be on a slight slide but dont be surprised if they recruit heavily this year, as the majority of their paid players have been there a while & would fall under the 0 points catagory. $$$ the only issue here!

Mannum- The last 2 GF's have been won by the home sides, & the GF this year is at Mannum. They will top up nicely as long as they dont lose too many in the off season. A real smokey for 2009

Tailem Bend- Could be the major improvers of the league, depending on how their recruiting goes.

Meningie- Will be up against it, & u cant help but feel sorry for them. Their location puts them at a big disadvantage before a ball is bounced. Lets hope they can build on what was a better last half of 2008.

All this said and done, recruiting will play THE MAJOR part in how everyone goes

The only thing IMPS can do,to have a team as strong as they were in 98,99,02 is to recruit heaverly .these are the only times theydominated the RMFL.

Jervois will struggle to hold on to most of their recruits. Mail im getting up to 6 gun players want out.Having said that the bloods keep upping the ante to retain these players so you never know.
