Fact: Jurek asked the Bays for $400 a game.
Fact: the Bays turned it down.
Fact: Jurek was cut from South he didn't walk out

Due to two clubs turning his ridiculous amount down he then ended up at Victor so some people simply think he obviously got close to the amount he was after. Personally if it were the case he was going to play with mates wouldn't he be at Saints before Victor?

At any rate its going to be another close year by all accounts with plenty of teams after spots 2-5, this was the case last year as seen on the country footy sa website anyway.

Any takers on a final five this early to the start of the season, I mean a lot of people make the asumptions during the pre-season.

I see on the GSFL website that Chad Paredes has put in a clearance from Christies Beach to Mt Compass as well as a clearance from Mt Compass to Saints.. what's going on there?? Why wouldn't he just get cleared straight from Christies to Saints?? Can you shed any light on this LF? He'll be a handy acquisition for the Saints.

Surpirses me he got cut from South Reserves who are struggling. Unless its an attitude thing as his ability is definitely good enough for 2s footy.

I think at this stage of the season every side is fighting for any spot on the ladder TC.

My tip for the 5 in no order.

Creeks, Strath, Willunga, Victor, Compass.

After the first few rounds we will have a better idea of who did well in the off season and who fell behind.

His orginal club was Goolwa, then he moved to Compass and obviously later to christies. Beacuse of the couple of lads we have from Christies I think he has had a late change of mind to come to us rather than compass. Played in the trial on the weekend and looked sharp without dominating but could be handy as a crumbing forward. Another 1 point player which is handy

Were'nt Encounter Bay a top five side and maybe played in a GF only a few years back? Didn't Mypo finish in the five only last year? Whtas teh reason for these clubs not featuring?

My news on Jurek comes from inside the SANFL however people do talk I suppose and stories get muddled etc.

I think what you will find here TC is that Chris does not really have any real close mates at the saints (still friends but), he is very good mates with Campbell Simmons and Sam Tozer who both play for Victor so with these guys and some good $$$ would be the reason he is at Victor.

On the SFL thread it says that Wes Bilney played for Marion in a trial match.
Thought he was coming to Enc. Bay?

TC enlighten me on why Jurek was cut. Its my opinion on his ability not the coaching staffs at South Adelaide.

Encounter Bay finished 6th last year and Myponga finished 5th, i didnt include them as they had some significant player losses in Bayliss, Stokes and co down at EB and Frank wanting a clearance and Pongy losing Loots, Heath etc. Hopefully for these clubs they prove me wrong FM, I mean TC and they make the 5. You asked, i gave my opinion.

Any reason why Chads clearance was denied LF? Could be a very handy in and under player for the Saints, good to see local players returning to the club they played jnr footy at and only a one point player.

The only comment worth mentioning that I was passed was that he had not yet played league after having been around the club for some time. Very talented and strong footballer but may not have hit his straps yet etc. In saying that I've noticed that he played every reserves game in 07.

Sorry mate I can't say I know any of the names you mentioned from either of those two sides however I'm taking it they're all imports? Is Stokes a relation of the Geelong Stokes however? Forgive my ignorance.

Bays would want to up their work rate to be any chance of a final five finish, only six at last weeks tuesday training, lucky to have Yank first up should have a good win and maybe lift the enthusiasm around the place - may also help to snare a last minute recruit or two.

Not sure on relation of Matthew at Geelong but the Stokes at EB has all the talent in the world but does not use it often enough.

You involved with a club TC? I see u have been around a while im guessing you've previously been on the forum under a different alias!

Was told on the weekend that an Encounter Bay player was misled into signing a contract which he thought was something else. He wished to play for his former club in Adelaide and has been told that he won't be cleared as a contracted player. Bad form EB!

The player in question is remarkably unbitter about the whole thing and seems to be resigned to his fate. I however, would be spitting chips.

Chris Jurek was dropped from south's reserves and given no indication as to why , slats when questioned could'nt even field an answer . Too poor from south and no wonder chris threw the towel in , if he had been told what he was diong wrong and how to improve then he would have stayed . South need to pick their act up when it comes to players outside the league team , junior players being left out and not given a reason . A league club should be doing better .
