mypaddock - Oval conditions really depend on the summer before and how wet the winter is. Over the last couple of years though most ovals have been pretty good but yeah it only takes a good week of solid rain to stuff up a number of the ovals. And yeah it does effect the game a fair bit sometimes but USUALLY the ovals are ok again by the last couple of games and finals.

Except for Bridgewater, their oval is sh!t every year most of the season.

I remember playing in the U10's mini-league at half time of a Bridgie v Uraidla encounter at the bowl. Dead set the mud was up to our knees, one kid lost his boot and honestly couldn't find it! Not to mention the stench, you would have thought you were swimming around in a septic tank!!!

A barker boy said Nunan isn't a popular man at the club!!! I mean i've always though the the man was a tool, he is a tool, but to come out of the mouth of a team mate is a different story. For someone as good as Nunan to be disliked by fellow club mates, you have to be a SERIOUS BALL BAG!

Mount Ronnie has really done a number on itself by the sounds...wicked!

Noons supports the coach (more than most) and most think that the coach is the tool so they probably group them together. Clint Rogers is who the players want for captain but Noons will get it.

Why would Chad Dawe, Michael Dannielle, Carter from TV play country when they would carve up Div 1?

I guess in Dawe's case because his dad's the president of the club and he grew up there, Carter's getting paid a small fortune - even by Central Division standards and if the rumours are to be beleived, Danielle wanted to play for Birdwood but Kangarilla wouldn't clear him and now appears headed for amatuers in town.

Actually, Angaston where his former coach Simon Johnson is now coaching, have been trying to get Daniele. However, believe he is under contract to Kangarilla, so unless there is a change of heart, he will probably still be lining up for Kangas

Can anyone confirm the signing of another ex Edwardstown/Freeling/Encounter Bay multiple B&F winner to Blackwood?
Was apparently seen out at training this week, carrying a bit but still moving ok.

Not Gigney, this bloke's been out of the game for a year or two (not sure) but may pull the boots back on. Has connections to the coaching panel at BW from Edwardstown I think.

Yes heard Blackwood might be about to sign a new player. A young bloke from up that way did tell me a new guy was out training but said 'he looked a bit too old, fat and slow'. Wonder if it is the same bloke??

I think 'old' is the operative word FF. From what I gather the recruits Blackwood have picked up have increased the average age of the club quite considerably!

I DONT THINK THAT THERE IS ANY PROBLEM WITH HAVING A FEW SEASONED PLAYERS AT YOUR CAMP, AS LONG AS THEY STILL KNOW HOW TO FIND THE FOOTY. THE PLAYER WHO WINS THE BALL ISN'T ALWAYS THE FASTER FITTER OR STRONGER PLAYER. IT IS THE ONE WHO READS THE BALL THE BEST. IE. J ZILLA.
WHO ARE THE OTHER OLDER PLAYERS BW HAVE PICKED UP?

I'm sorry GTS but Jason Sziller is not a good example there. The poor fella has copped flack his whole career about not being quick. The fact of the matter is that he's the quickest bloke you'll ever meet over 10meters...seriously, the guy is like a feckin bunny rabbit, he springs around like nothing else...and where is it that he does all his work you ask??? In the middle or at the bottom of packs where it's irrelevant what oyur top pace is. The man is a footballing genius, should've played AFL! He'll gain the footy where you'd never thought possible. Definately the best rover I've had the priviledge of rucking to...get it within 2 metres of the bloke, he'll gather it, dodge about 10 blokes and then give the dish and then you're away. Gotta(or had to) love that Loby engine room!

You are right though GTS, seasoned players who know what there doing although not in great shape can still have a big impact on a team!

Methinks you mean the Eagles GD. Yep, you are right; numbers abysmal on the track. Troy Bond riddled with injuries and Cally will be lucky to get more than 6 games outa him on that basis alone, nevermind all the other side issues. I reckon they're counting the fence warmers when they say numbers are good. Cally would have to go down in history as the club with the most potential since formation, yet the worst performers. What does that say? Town growing enormously fast, young lads everywhere, numbers guaranteed for years IF............. Huge possibilities with the Hillgrove Sponsorship! I recall seeing Cally win a semi in 1998 at Birdwood I think it was. Mullins, Highett, Radbone, Vanson, McMurtrie, Holton. That side was HOT! Finished 4th I think but could've played in a GF. They seem to have problems and issues across the board. I suppose they will struggle on. If they don't, the pickings for other clubs will be incredible once in the right hands.
