limb wrote:Before you get too carried away luvayarn I'll just list a few facts about the points system..
1. The points system was brought in by the league not by an individual club.
2. Every club had over a year to discuss the system with the league, their own club and other clubs and were encouraged to suggest any changes to improve the system.
3. The system was adopted after a vote at the AGM which saw all clubs apart from Willunga (and possibly Victor?) vote in support of the system.
If anyone on this forum has a problem with the points system don't get on your soap box and point the finger at individual clubs, raise your concerns with your club delegate because unless you're from Willunga or Victor they put their hand up when Herman asked "all in favour".
I personally don't have a problem with the points system. It's been working well in every league that I know of that has it in place. Lets wait and see it how it goes in the GSFL before we get too critical. Who knows, it might even improve what is already an excellent football league?

Mate it wasnt meant to come off that i was pointing the finger at the creek. Like i said every club bar Willunga voted it in. Im just worried a club will fold before anything is done.
My mail is that Yank had an internal trial on the weekend with only 14 or so?

So if this is correct and you choose to make a move with in the league you are worth the same points as a player who has been playing league football in the SANFL?

Hey Guys, We got a new fella at our club this year who has ventured over from Willunga last year. Name is Brian Fenton. Seems to be pretty tough at the ball. Only young too i reckon. Did he play any league games at the Demons?

sounds like this is an emerging pattern. We are hearing reports of several clubs having limited numbers out at training. There is going to be a huge opportunity for clubs to fill the 4th and 5th finals spots.

well atleast 5th position will be up for grabs LF, Willunga, Strath Compass and Creeks have top 4 covered and i reckon in that order too.

But were sides as dominant as Willunga? i think anyone from the top 4 can win this year.

It was 2003. Saints had a star studded line up bu failed to deliver. Mclaren knocked us of in the elimination final and ended up beating South Mclarens (Willunga) in the GF. I think that Strath and Bays were possibly the other 2 teams.

LF they beat us (WILLUNGA) in the Prelim at Compass in the wet in 03 and beat Strath in the GF. Probably the catalyst for the success weve had as that season we fell apart towards the end of the season winning 1 of our last 5 games.

That the last time Saints played finals LF?

I think Yank finished 5th in 2003? Mclaren knocked off Goolwa @ Encounter Bay in the 1st semi.

It was a big turn around from Willunga's 10 goal win in the Qualifying final 2 weeks before. Willunga really should've won the premiership that year.

Thats right Mclaren beat Strath at Willunga in 03. Yes it was the last time we played finals. Brock, Mclarens beat us at the Bay in 02 after the saints knocked off Yank in the elimination final. Someone needs to publish a GSFL history book.

Saints in 03 lost Mclaren in the semis at the Bay and lost in 04 to Mclarens in the elimination at L Creek. Is that right Brock?
