What part of the metropolitan ediiton is this in? Can't find it anywhere... :?

CLUBS NOT CLEARING PLAYERS REGARDLESS OF CONTARCTS OR NOT IS RIDICULOUS!
No reason to ever keep a player that wants to leave unless they have Outstanding Financial issues!

What is the world of country footy coming too? A mans word use to be worth more than an ink spot!

-Clubs Clear your players!
-Players read before you sign and dont just say what clubs want to hear be honest from day one!

All better now

Damian mate HS said "regardless of contracts or not", so weather they are contracted or not clear them he is saying.
Its a very tough spot saints are in and this is where the points system can really hurt a club. Hopefully things work out with this one.

what is happening with the saints, we hear all pre season nothing but positive talk now two weeks out from round one, they get smashed by mt barker and now this clearing talk of players leaving?

so dissapointing, i thought saints would be around the mark and one of the stronger teams.

I dont think players or clubs are totally to blame here i just think both parties should cut THEIR losses. Im not commenting on the saints alone here im talking about any club and player combination that are experiencing this situation. I reckon Pongy and the Saints are't alone here at all.

Its Clubs and players not one or the other.

The Saints themselves said they were hoping to IMPROVE but did not expect to be worldbeaters. I for 1 hoped they would also and still believe they will. A new combination of players, 6 or so ins and then add Mccardle and Hirst aswell and they will definitely improve. Trials are exactly that, obviously there is some work to do but given time you never know.

If a player is not financial then hold them, but in the end if you let the player leave with no hassles then if things go pear shaped hes more likely to want to return. Making it hard for the player will only leave a bad taste in the mouth and more often than not the player will not return also taking along some bad blood which will spread and may influence others to not arrive at previous club either.

Players need to honour their word also, situations change, job, home address etc and ive said it before dont sign for more than 1 year at a time to avoid any situations like this arising, i hear Heathy has been cleared now from a Pt Noarlunga player so hopefully the situation has been put to bed.

B.J. I can tell you that Heathy definetly has not been cleared and unfortunately will sit the season out.
It is a shame that there needs to be effort for this club to make him hate them before they will realise the name they are giving themselves in the league as all concerned are talking about it is not good for future recruiting

I dont know about Heathy being cleared BJ i heard it was gettiing pretty "heated" still? But i hope your right. I just heard a differnt story from the Pongy side at Happy Valley V Mclaren the Saturday night.

also BJ I saw a few portys boys at their local in the wee hours of sunday morning they said although both sides were a little undermaned it was a good hit out between The Divers and the Deamons have you heard much about it from the boys?

Very disappointing news about Heathy. I had heard differently and this is the WORST scenario that can happen from all of this. A good player sitting out the season is never a good thing.

I heard it was a good hitout with the Divers playing well early and the Demons coming back in the last half to get up by a few goals in the end. Scrappy game for a first trial and the lads have plenty to work on but with 8 of last years premiership side out we had some players to cover and were happy. Porties will be up there in the SFL again so a good contest is what we were after. Not sure on the Divers outs but i did hear there were a few aswell.

The kids supposedly went alright and will improve again this week with most of the guys that missed the Divers game available against Uraidla should have a better idea of where we are at.

How are you lookin this year HS? The move turning out to be a good one?

HS, while BJ was enjoying the party pies, pasties, cakes and other hospitality at AAMI stadium Porties and the D's had a good hit out at Porties. The scoreboard was unattended but from what I could tell the match went pretty much goal for goal. Willunga pulled the covers off Hams and Ryan for season 08. Both showed some good signs and will be better for the run. Todd Steele was in ominous form and looked fitter than he ever did during 07. Carnevale looked like he is getting back to his best. Loaded up an gave one everything from 30 out - perhaps the longest goal of his career? Porties didn't look quite as fit as the D's but made up for it with strength and numbers at the ball in typical SFL fashion.

Thanks for the rundown Gape and BJ!

BJ its looking positive for this year we had a good hit out against an under manned and under prepared Mclaren on Saturday night. The score was a blow out but to Mclarens credit they were hard at it and seemed a really young side. We still have some to come in but all the Valleys boys put in an excellent effort with good running and support all game.
Im definatley happy that ive put in a decent pre season this year Footy is much more fun when your actually fit!

The pre-season off may have done Alex Jones some good. I think he will thrive back at the saints this year having the wilsons brothers, yoey and fennel to work with at stoppages. He plays much better footy with better players around him as we saw in association matches.

I hate to say it but your right. One person is quite happy 4 him to sit out the year. I think the publicity from the sunday mail has gone to his head. ](*,) Its crap. Had a few drinks with Heathy and Hubes at Mclarens sat night and they wont be back if theyre not cleared. The Myponga commitee always preached to the coaching staff and players to make sure the club was held in high regard and respected. I guess its only when it suits them. Sorry i meant him!
