How do some clubs finance this?

It's unbelieveable Ken.

Souths are the most financially flush club in PLFL, and I would eat my hat if they paid anyone that much!

I did read on another thread that the Gowans Brothers were offered $1500 per game to play at a Hills League club.

It is unfathomable for a "local" football club to care that much about winning games as to pay that much!

$400 - $800 a match is pretty much the norm for ex-league players in most leagues closer to Adelaide. I know of a club that was flying down blokes from Darwin each week this season just gone.

I would love to see what KNTFL, Mid South East and Western Border clubs shell out.
I would estimate about $100,000 a year in player payments wouldn't be far off the mark for a fair few of them.

If you are talking about Torrens Valley in the HFL, they were flying one bloke down (Josh Hill) from Darwin. He was flown down the year before too. Most if not all players in that team are paid, many on around $1000 a game. Absolutely absurd and I would hate the teams in PLFL or GF or anywhere on the EP to go down that path, it absolutely ruins a competition and draws essential funds away from improving your club etc. No wonder the results in HFL Country are so lopsided, some teams can afford decent players, the others can't.

I hadn't heard that but if true he kicked 144 goals for the year, not including finals so would have made $45,000 just for playing footy. Considering that team is also paying people like Mark Clayton and Jacques, they would spend some serious coin on players.

From what I hear, many clubs in the Western Border League have footy budgets in excess of $100k pa.
No salary cap because of the cross border influence.

I've heard talk of Heywood's recruits Mal Michael and Courtney Johns being paid a sign-on fee of $30,000 each and $3000 per game.
I also understand that blew up in their face but yeah, what sort of budget would you guys estimate EP clubs have?

A mate of mine was footy manager with a club in the mount a year or so ago, and it was common practise for $5-10k sign on fees, $500 - $1000 per game plus a job if needed. On top of that they were flying 6-8 players up from Adelaide each week and covering accomodation for the weekend. (plus paying them as above)
Reckon coach was getting paid $30 plus exclusive use of a car.....upshot was they missed the finals

Funnily enough I was on the phoneto an ex Cummins guy who is on a footy committee up in the Hills
they approached a league footballer who was looking for a change.
He wasnt interested unless it was a $1000 a game.
Its totally screwing up the game I have been following the happenings at Marion FC
since the brothers left they are in a pretty ordinary situation,
