Anyone who's been involved with struggling clubs would know how hard it is to generate any interest in coaching positions, especially 'A' Grade. You get very few applicants and as such you take what you can get and hold your head up that you've got a coach. Promises are always big lures for struggling clubs and I guess Maccy's no exception. Maybe clubs just don't ask enough about applicant's past history.
Maybe ORD can comment on his signing. ORD, were there any other worthwhile applicants????
From what I have heard, the has been a bit of an exodus since Mitchell was announce as coach.
We all know that Mitchell isn't the most liked bloke going around but he certainly sells himself pretty well and FWIW the training so far has been the most difficult I've ever been involved with, having started in the first week of January, (I don't think it's just because I'm getting old

) and that includes a 3 year stint I had with a more succesful club interstate.
The players that we lost to Tailem Bend ( Lynch, Wilkey, Steven Thomas, Linke and Herbert) were gone anyway regardless of who we appointed as coach and the fact that Matthew Dent is Lynch's boss would have had a little to do with it. Not sure how they are going to fit them and other recruits they've picked up under the RMFL point system but good luck to them. Joe Wyatt was looking to retire and his brother Stephen only played about 5 games for us last year anyway. Apparently a good mate of Kempsters from the Southern League has laid on him that it will be his last year so it would be good for him if they could play together. Murphy back to Mt Barker with Harford and a couple of others but Paul Bott and Michael Foster are staying on.
Have picked up a few from the Amatuer league as well as former Nairne player Andrew Baayens (as long as he can work it around his kids and his missus' commitments) and a few others that will give us a bit of depth at least.
Will Tamarapa would have one of the longest kicks going around in country football and it is no exaggeration to say he can kick 65 metre drop punts in benign conditions.
