Also Swamp I think you'll find Sam Mc is only in Australia for a short while and was just filling in on saturday because the b grade were a bit short. Pretty handy fill in but I don't think he'll play any more games, or will he....

J-Rod to coach
Matt Dickie would be a great assistant

Just a quick word on the Opitz subject, Travis is a champion. Although he hasn't always seen eye to eye with the United hierachy he has given the club great loyal service and made some very close mates out there and I'm sure he'll have a few more good times out there yet. I'd also like to congratulate him and Fi on the birth of Mitchell, top work guys.

Anyone remember that 'faxuwill' guy. He seemed to know everything, he'd be a great coach. :D

yes correct, but the list was issued weeks before finals. young chris campbell was not allowed to play in the Bs GF, when he played most of season in the Bs! The association place him in the required As list. SO now they(APFL committee) select whom they think should be an A grader or B grader. LIKE I STATED B4! they should concentrate on improving the UMPIRING and leave selection to clubs. If they meet the right criterium that is set out in black and white(i put that in for swamppie)

Just couldn't sleep so i thought i would come on for a nosey. Two good i have been whinging about the standard of umpiring in the apfl for years .I remember some years back that the apfl took the mind set to invite two umpires [from a different comp] every week to come out and have a go. Why has this stopped? This comp is suffering badly from incompetent umpiring. I reckon if you took all the umpires in the league and put them into a hat they would not have a 150 games of playing experience between them. It is a farce.....

He played there for fourteen years, won numerous medals, coached for one year then gets shafted and no talk of life membership????United have to wake up and realise you can't treat stalwarts of the club like that!!!No wonder they can't keep quality players there!! and stop beeing bridemaids!!!

Wizard, you obviously have nothing to do with either the United FC or Trav Opitz (very interested to know what club you are involved with???). Easy to make assumption about what you think might be happening!! Trav never re-applied for the coaching position after his one year & from my last chat, has withdrawn from A-grade availability due to the birth of his new son & work commitments which make it hard for Trav put in the preparation that he requires off himself. Definate possibility that he will be playing B-grade for the remainder of the season. Agree that he his dissapointed with some of the less commited people in the club as we all are at times but Travs on field passion is rarely matched by other players (as much as we wish it was). Trust me, all players & supporters of United have enormous respect for Trav & what he has done over the years. He has made many lifelong freindships there. He loves the club & the club loves him. He will have clashes with some hierachy as we all do with some of the older generation there but at the end of the day everyone wants the best for the club. As for life membership, don't know what happens at whichever club you're involved with, but as good as Trav's playing record is (& we all acklnowledge it), there is more that can be done off the field before life membership is mentioned. It's early days & Trav will be involved with the club for years to come.

Interesting subject. The reason the tigers can hold on to most of there imports is not hard to figure out .The guys out there are a top sort and great to have a beer with .I myself have had many a good night out at the tower [plenty of all night benders] The lads certainly can party hard. But..... Some of the older types are a bit conservative and tend to clash and that tarnishes the club a bit .Oh yeah well done trav and fi on the birth of there son,8 pound 9 i here, what a monster!Hopefully he gets a bit taller than his old man. maybe he might be able to take an overhead mark or too.

Half Back Flank? Think I'd be a bit slow for there, much more accustomed to warming the bench on a cold winters day.

More than happy with wing, thanks Jumbo. I'd be a typical wingman though, no accountability whatsoever & will definately not be getting the hard ball!!!!
