It is important Yankalilla continue in this competition and the GSFL should do everything to maintain the clubs we presently have. Must remember Rapid Bay have a sucessful cricket team, which involves footballers from Yank. Wow the clearances are starting to roll in and as predicted Strath and Compass are thr big movers. Burgess will be sensational down here. Big strong marking key forward, just want the Roosters have been crying out for and the Bulldogs continue to pick up good quailty recruits. What about the loss of Sam Jones from Saints, undoes a bit of work when you lose a big local lad.

Sam Jones is a big loss and I think you will find that alex wont play either. Its disappointing when local players whinge (not sam and alex in particular) then the club becomes procacticve, signs some quality players then blokes go missing. You end up going around in circles. As for Mt Compass, they now remain to be a genuine contender once again. They seem to have retained the boys from the mallee.

Mt Compass will be a genuine contender this season no doubt. With keeping the Mallee boys in Schmidt and Bailey (who i rate as one of the best players in the league) they have some stability! If Maxfield can fire and Burdett stays on and doesnt sign at South then they will be a force if these recruits they have coming down are as good as reported.

Strath filling the hole they have had for a few years now in recruiting a big forward to assist Duffield they too will rise a level and will definitely challenge for the big prize if can hold onto there running brigade.

A changing of the guard perhaps in GSFL footy this season?

Its starting to shape up as who will fill the fifth spot. I couldn't see Willunga, Strath, Compass or Creeks missing the 5. but theres a long way to go.

All may not be so rosie as it seems down at Willunga after the weekends triathalon. Speaking to the no.1 ruckman at D land, he explained that after finishing in the top 2 for the last 3 years the wheels literally came off his bike and was thrown over the handle bars leaving him bruised and battered. Also to his amazement was the player (no.2 ruckman) who recorded a PB finishing second. Sabatoge?? Hopefully BJ can fill us in

You are right LF, sad when you lose 2 big local boys. Saints have done so well to recruit some genuinely good footballers and then lose two key players from your own backyard. It is just playing catch-up all the time. Surely a couple of $$$ would have persuaded them to stay. It is the old conumdrum of paying for recruits and then how much is the local worth? Clubs have to be fair and not dsicriminate from a the good local to the bloke from out of town. If he is good enough you have to reimburse him fairly wherever he comes from. Aslo another talented youngster could be playing elsehwere from Saints. Tom Fergusson at Strath???? That would be a major blow on top of the Joneses. It all may be starting to unravel at Saints before the season has even begun.

LF thats a very good point you make. =D>
But I think it needs to be pointed out that Samy Jones left due to uni and living in town, money was nothing to do with it. Sam is a team man and wants to play for a club that he can train twice a week and feel like he is a big part of the team. He has a couple of mates that play at Edwards town so he has joint forces with them and hopefully he enjoys it, from all reports in a trial game last week he played very well.
Tom Ferg to strath, he must be looking at playing with his cousin. Strath have seen a few lads come from the saints over the past few years. Surley LF all you boys would be enough of a reason for him to stay with the saints?

There was a glint in #2s eye when he finished and i explained to him i saw #1 go over the handlebars nearing the end of the bike leg. However in a twist Wow #2 ruckman lost a pedal on the ride and rode 2 kms with 1 pedal. Maybe they should both start working together instead of against each other. Lets hope this rift at the Demons gets sorted out quickly and the 'In-house' bickering ceases before the ruckman rift becomes a major issue and tears the club in 2.

Maybe No.2 also wants CHF as Sam" The Mclaren flat chook farmer" also had to carry his bike several kms. Is it to late to repair the damage? Baz has alot of work to do

Maybe we need to sit the 'KI Wonder Kid' down and see whether hes heart is in it for himself or the team this season!! His sabotage efforts hurt a lot of people and hopefully the rifts can be mended! Good luck Barry! :?

TC your mail on Ferg was correct but he is staying at the Saints , after a talk with the coach everything is fine . Jones boys will be a big loss , no team can afford to lose locals like that but if they cant play for your club what else can you do . The rest of the young lads in griffen , cuthbert and co need to step up and take more resposibility . No point in recruiting players if your local players are not contributing .
Good to see Mt Compass getting players , this indeed will make them a force in 08 . Hopefully Yank can find something in the coming weeks , the whole community should get behind them and give the footy and netball a hand .

We must be doing something right with our youngsters at Goolwa. Other GSFL clubs are forever targeting them.

Sam Jones (creeks)
Fergusson (strath)
Jurek (encounter bay)
McGuiness (Mt Compass)

Is it true that one of the Richardson boys (Matt I think) from Strath wont be playing this year? Travelling perhaps? Big loss if true.

Big Kev and all the clubs in the GSFL will be adding up Mt Compass points when they play them i would think with all the recruits they have on board. Everyone was craping on about the Saints and how they are going to get all them players in under the new points system, well i think they need to be more concerned with how Compass will get away with it.
