Quite honestly I sincerely hope you boys dont play a major part in September, there is something to be said for front runners and you are painting a very poor picture of the Jervois FC.

Playing in a second rate country comp to that of the GSFL may bring some glory but where's the challenge in it? Come down to the GSFL and challenge yourself.

The Bays may have had a rough trott 07 and will be against some stiff competition 08 but we love the challenge.

Couldnt be too bad a picture. Your B&F winner is now playing with us!

Money talks champ. I think thats the part in which he found it easier to take more money and drop back a couple of steps to a lower standard in order to play in a GF.
Trust me your not painting a very good picture at all, if I didnt know a couple of blokes tied up with you this year I'd honestly think you were all a bunch of front runners.[/quote]

Im sure we will all meet on sat!

Are you guys playing a trial this weekend or something?
Jervois are hated in their league, all I have heard from a range of different people is negative things and that they should not have won the GF in 07 the ump's had alot to do with the win.

Encounter Bay have a ruckman and his name is Tom Blum. Untapped talent that will rise in 08 due to more responsibility and taking charge of the centre square. Good post on the Bays BJ, but really everyone and I mean everyone in the GSFL even locals at the Bay were very critical of the AMOUNT of players brought in and it should not be condoned. Yes I know it has been said enough and it seems Bassani has learnt and now understands the comp better and has a greater respect for it. The standard is great in the GSFL and the local boys are better than most that came in.

Similar, in truth I heard that the game itself was not overally exciting with the skill standard for a GF being down right ordinary - that came from SFL players who didn't even play finals in there own league.
Jervois won it but not easily, it was more the point that the opposition lost the game rather than the bluds won it if you follow me?

First I heard about the umpiring though. I asked Hills to take an unbiased position and post his thoughts but thats impossible and to help him out he didnt play the year before so he may not be able to compare.

The saddest thing is I have to agree with you ToughCall, but the problem last year was that Blum didn't really like playing ruck. This year though the problem is if you put him in ruck then you lose a good backman.
Last year EB had about 15 of the starting 22 leave from their finals team. You need to recruit players to fill those gaps and if locals have a problem with that, then they need to prove themselves preseason and during the season if they feel they should play before imports. I can tell you for a fact that a few of Bassani's recruits were not playing as good as some of the B graders and were put back to the B grade. Those who may have whinged are probably those that didn't play A grade at all.
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

The umps didnt give the game to Jervois.

Jervois clawed back from being behind by 6 goals, same as the previous year.

Same as the prelim against ramblers.

I guess they had to blame someone for letting another premiership slip. You dont win 4 in a row because of umpires.

Absolutely agree, it was a huge number of players to bring down. They probably didnt need to have that many but in saying that there B grade were middle of the pack, and without knowing exact facts im sure most of the recruits play A grade so if they hadnt have come down u promote the B graders and then where are they?

Lets all hope theres not a huge walk out of a club again, what happens if Billy Bass leaves at the end of this year, do the dozen or so guys leave with him? Then where is the EBFC if this happens again. Hopefully not in the same situation they were in at the start of 07 as they wont be able to replace that amount of players again!!

I think we have heard enough about Jervois, Bays and the Saints to last a life time. Has anyone got anything relevant about other clubs. Yank, McLaren? What about trial matches who has everyone got lined up?

FM is it true you offered $400 a game to a 17yr old from Seaton?
