How about the Jervois Payments syndrome ;)

So GWW do you know exactly what evry Jervois player and every other paid player in the league gets paid? Did you know that South were asking Jervois for $3k for Frauny's clearance? Did you also know that players were actually taking pay cuts to get him there and were going to dig into their own pockets to pay that clearance??? Know all the facts before throwing stones. Like Hills said, the Treasurer and the President of the club are not idiots and would not put the club in the financial situation to struggle in the future, that would be just stupid. The club is a proud club and expect success. We are not building to survive, we are building to win a 5th premiership.
We also don't have the population of other towns in the league to gain players and being based in the country for so long I thought you would realise this. All remote clubs struggle to attract players and offer good match payments and if you spoke to other Adelaide based players playing in different country leagues you woul know that Jervois aren't alone and they definitely aren't the highest paying club. Right now I could go and get $700 a game at Willaston, tell me anyone in our league who gets that???

Basically a south representative who has ties with Flinders Park told Frauny that South wouldn't clear him to play at Jervois and that he should play for Flinders and they would clear him straight away. The bloke didn't bother to check with either Sam or the club and signed papers then and there.

I don't think its the amount being paid, its the AMOUNT of players, and hey i'm not the only one who's made the observation on this forum. I just find it surprising that Jervois would say they're struggling to attract players and need to recruit this new guy, when they've got Woodhouse and Rigney to play up forward as well as the Brauns. Theres nothing wrong with recruiting players, its just that most clubs have a limit ie. they wouldn't recruit another forward if they had forwards the calibre of Woodhouse, Trevor Rigney and the Brauns already at the club. I don't think the population excuse can really be used that strongly either when the B Grade is extremely competitive and the Under 17's are right up the top as well.

Hey good luck to Jervois, they've been successful in the last 5 years. I basically made an observation that I think they've gone over the top, which i think most non Jervois people on here would strongly agree with.

Ok!!! Yeah seemed funny that you were all talking him up 1 week & gone the next. With a few Panther, Blud lovers in the SAAF threads giving him a hard time also. Thought maybe there was more to it. Good to hear there wasn't.
$700 a game, mate I wouldn't get out of bed for that

And regardless of who the guy is mates with, it would still be the club and perhaps the recruiting committee who would decide whether or not to recruit the guy, unless i guess existing players were prepared to take a pay cut to pay for the new recruit's match payments.

Your so wrong about Willunga. Thomas Dobson Portlock Carnavale Baxter Radbone Husnik Langford Mcdonald Bradford Genovese Carpenter Bull Smith Groom etc did not play colts at willunga. Willunga have always said they dont pay big $$$ for players, but they have. By being a powerhouse club its had a flow on effect thru all grades and they are easily the most sucessful club in the Gsfl. They did what they had to do to win premierships, now most of those blokes play 4 petrol/beer money. At the Bluds we've played cobbles kluske hilly gazzola cheso wells who are 1st year seniors or still colts. The future looks good 4 the bluds

Lots of good juniors and a very competitive B grade, and yet they continue to recruit more players ;)

I might be wrong on Willunga, but i dont think they went from being a previous bottom 5 team, to then recruit 8 or however many players the following year (like Jervois did in 2004), and then instantly be a powerhouse, like Jervois have. And i'd say the players going to Willunga more than likely live in the close vicinity and are going there to Willunga to be successful, not like Jervois where the cash lure and the desire to be successful are probably equal factors.

OK OK OK boys, enough is enough. Lets move on to something else about the Panthers
Just Kidding!!! Come on lets have something else on the menu for a while.

FIL u were right

By the way does anyone know what the situation with the Zone squad is!!! Looked at the draw & some teams have the bye and others dont (split round). Surely that would effect who plays. eg Hodge, Eyre & Harrow & O'neil, Morris & Button have a bye so would put their hand up, yet all three Pedlers & Trig are in the squad & they have a Local game to play. Pretty tough on those sides me thinks.

Just another case of the MB sides getting a bit of special treatment perhaps

Yes, lets move on ;) happy to agree to disagree on the topic :)

This week's games:

Imperials v Tailem Bend - TB will want to perform better than they did earlier in the year against Imps, but won't be able to cover the depth of the Blues. Imps 91 - 100.

Jervois v Mannum - Mannum showing some reasonable form, but i think at home the Bluds should win convincingly 61 - 70.

Ramblers v Meningie - The Chooks will be keen to get back on the winning list after last week's disappointment. Likely to be a very large margin, Ramblers by 25 goals.

Ramblers dont have very many out at the moment. Only 3 missing!!! Button will play this week somewhere   so only Girardi & Sykes out. Roosters by plenty. Matchoss aswell as he sustained a nasty one down low last week
