It’s not just the clubs. Administrations would benefit greatly from doing this. Putting together multiple influential administrators under the one roof can only benefit leagues.

16 teams worked well for the SFL league didnt it, whats left now?

It would work fine for those close city leagues mentioned above but they arent the ones that need help are they???? So why would you do it, it would be removing local rivalries that have existed for 100 years. The problems arent in the South.

And 6 teams out of something like 27 have chosen to partake in the mickey mouse Limestone coast league.

The problems are North and there is simply too much travel involved if you combined leagues and clubs. Some of thess clubs have already been amalgamated twice and three times, you cant squeeze them anymore. Once they amalgamate they lose their identity and their affinity with the towns. what normally happens is they start with ewqual amount of home games at each town but then that doesnt become viable and they move to one town and the other one is forgotten and swallowed up.

Interesting that the AdFL are going to have to use SANFL grounds as they have an approved COVID plan for 1k+ crowds. This is going to be an issue for all country leagues then isn't it? Options would be, use a SANFL ground (possible for BLG, HFL, GSFL - SFL already use Noarlunga), arrange a COVID plan approved via SA Health (not sure this would be very easy considering the SANFL took weeks to achieve this) or limit patrons to 1k on GF day (not ideal).

Thebarton Oval will not host the Adelaide Footy League’s showpiece event for the first time in 14 years following a shake up of the competition’s grand final schedule.

The division one and two grand finals, originally set for the final Saturday in September, will instead be held at Norwood Oval on the October long weekend.

The move was sparked by the requirement for all events in SA with more than 1000 people expected to attend to have a COVID-19 management plan approved by SA Health.

With grand finals for all seven men’s divisions originally planned to be held on Saturday, September 26, the league would have needed a plan ticked off for each individual venue.

Instead it will work with the SANFL grounds, which have already been approved for crowds in excess of 1000, to host the grand finals.

Our league called for nominations to host finals.
This is exactly why we didn't bother applying.
Just too hard and too risky if you are found to be over 1000.
No way are country grounds getting approved.

Do seniors on a Saturday and Juniors on a Sunday maybe?

I think SANFL are only approved up to 3k and most near city leagues get more than that to a GF.

The SAAFL would have multiple highly attended GF’s in a given day and have to create Covid19 safe plans from scratch and execute them at every venue. All this with limited resources. In the country you only have 1 GF in which you can put all your resources in to. Whilst it’s not easy, it’s far more manageable in a smaller country league. The SAAFL article clearly says that other venues haven’t been decided yet but in large the 2 higher div GF’s have been shifted from the week prior because of the difficulties of Managing the events. I’d be incredibly shocked if Thebby wasn’t used for a GF in another div.

Crowd limits still 1000, WTF?
They have QR codes what more can they do??
I reckon im safer with 3000 at a country venue than 40k at Adelaide Oval
