Ports should just get over the line. No reason to doubt the Cats - 4 goal win. South got plenty of injurys up there so Bloods should win,10 goals.

Lions got up in a very ordinary game off footy.
Sollies win against West finally think Sollies are the real deal.
Central win to much going on at south.

The SGL competition is getting very interesting. Winners are getting hard to pick. Are Lions the SGLs "Shinboners"?Have to tip my hat to Dunkley and the Lions. He must be a great coach because while every other club has gone bezerk in off season recruiting (South excepted perhaps) the Lions have stuck with developing a home grown squad which is devoid of cashed up superstars and to me always appear to lack balance, lacking a couple of players in key posts. BUT they are now sitting equal top! Will be interesting to see if they can beat the much stronger "on paper" Bloods.

Good win by West. There is plenty of talent in that side so that result probably doesn't surprise too many but inconsistency is their weakness.

The South v Central game was a strange one with blow out quarters going for and against and in the end it was just a gutsier effort by the young Bulldogs it seems. Central do have a couple out but South have a huge injury list so full credit to them.

Players 1980s

Postby kempey » Fri Jun 21, 2013 11:02 pm

I had the great pleasure of chatting with Jim Fenoughty (South and West) and Steve Rhodes (Willsden) recently.
Jim recalled the famous David Grainger Prelim Final Solomontown v West 1983 - where David received 11 games for striking Harry Carter and Richard Cochrane.
Great memories.

What about the South player who got reported for punching Granger in the knee, with his left hand, asked by the tribunal why he punched Granger with his non-preferred hand, he answered 'Because he was standing on my other hand', Bazz & Pilko rang him up the next week and included him in their toughest footballers in SA team.
South guys would remember who he was, from memory he worked in the Railways workshops ......Benson??

I see a south supporter who is a life member came threatening close to the near possibility of losing his block and assaulting an umpire after the game today. I see the league still have failed to provide safety for umpires. It is shocking when a player is continually vilified from the south crowd and officials. Even south supporters were disgusted of there feral behavior and one supporter tried to calm the player down. I'm expecting a south trainer could come under a league or club suspension. This sort of behavior has broken the club and friendships apart

I hear Centrals may have unearthed a gem in young Todd Scott. In the best the other week might be ready to start making a mark in the seniors. Home grown through the juniors I think 200 game player perhaps.

Tyson Horsnell had tongues wagging last weekend with his performance in the zone champs. A standout in a team (Northern) that didn't win a game. Flinders Park and Broadview are supposed to be considering throwing a heap of cash at the guy but I reckon Southern Flinders will beat them to it unless Props come good with a counter offer
