How are things tracking out at Echunga? New coach plenty of new recruits may take time to gel?

I'm guessing Echungas B grade will be good this year. With all the recruits surely they wont all fit in the A grade with the points system

Personally I suspect the B's will be around the same standard as the past few years.

Blackwood v Mt Barker
I think this will be a close hit out. News from the city doesn’t always travel down the hill that fast so Blackwood can always be a bit of a guess in round one.
They have lost Jess Watchman back to the SANFL who will be a huge loss. He was a master at both ends of the ground. They have picked up Nick Homburg from West who well help the side.
The Roos will also be interesting to see round one with the departures of Stuart Hill, Caine Jinette and Mark Obushak will certainly be noticed Ethan Bell too if he is picked down town. The addition of Adam Eckerman, Sam Pfeiffer and the return of Henry Johnson will help but it might be a tough ask.
Blackwood by 9 points at home

Lobethal v Torrens Valley
I think this might be a white wash. Lobey have lost some handy players like James Elliott, Kye Turpin, Alex Wills and I don’t think Baust will play at all this year. They have a few top ups but no one significant that I've heard about. TV lose the reigning mail medallist in Ben Hannah. Chad O’Sullivan is departing although I don’t think his body had a lot left to give. Damon Hill and Harley Montgomery might be back playing in the city but if TV are in a good spot come round 13 I think the guys with have a nice incentive to leave the city back to Mount Torrens. TV have the regular laundry list of additions which notably include Josh Newnham and Scott Mazzone. Newnham has the ability to change a game of footy of his own back if he’s interested but will need strong guidance around him if he’s to stay the task. The addition of Toby Schulz will be big too. A minor celebrity in his own right and will be a major pick up as long as he can keep his business ventures under control (see Adelaide now for more info )
I hope Lobey’s new coach has a few tricks up his sleeve but TV coach Tony Burgess has a very strong feel for country footy.
TV by 10 + goals

Uraidla v Mt Lofty
No major changes for either side. Uraidla, as they always say, are another year older but Miles, Clements, Burchy and Buckets will have to work hard to keep Uraidla key recruit Nick Amato in check. Uraidla have never been a side to pride themselves on their performances in the first few rounds but I’d say
Uraidla by 7 goals

Hahndorf v Echunga
Hahndorf have lost Scott Paul, Jarryn Male, Tom Babidge, Tony Tripodi and possible Sam Hayden (SANFL). Early mail was that a few SANFL clubs were trying to lure Matt Jaensch back down the hill but there doesn’t seem to be much movement on that front so will expect him to suit up tomorrow afternoon. The Pies have picked up the brother of Hankin from the Riverland who I’m told has a heap of talent. Hopefully he’s not a scratcher and biter like his brother and will no doubt have a big impact.
Echunga has probably been the best recruiters of the off season with 4 or 5 good signings, none more so than Dylan Reinbrecht who's a star combined with the full time return of Alex Carey will also help. I think this will be a big turnaround season for the Dees and I think this may just be match of the round.

Be interesting to see how Amato goes. Rough him up a bit and he loses focus on the footy

Interesting start to the season. The current top 4 same top 4 as end of minor round last year.

Whilst it's only 2 games in, Lobey appear to have slipped, echunga improved, and whilst Mt Barker haven't won a game they've played top teams. Hahndorfs start to be expected. How do they set the fixture? Is it random? Having the premier play the 2 x bottom teams in the first 2 games seems odd? Maybe it was just a lucky draw.

Can't believe how many behinds kicked between Uri, Echunga and Hahndorf! Early season inaccuracy?!

Early signs is a close top 4.. then who's the 5th best team..

TV were too big & fast for us today. They just trust their teammates to win the ball & run forward.

Hello everyone, long time reader, first time poster. Happened to be out at Echunga on the weekend and it looks like Echunga have really improved in the seniors this year. The A grade did it easily, looks like they still need a bit of time to gel with a lot of new faces in that side. And how about the B grade!? They should of won by a lot more, but broke down a bit in forward entries. Played with only 1 on the bench as well, including their ruckman who hobbled off with what looked like a hammy.

Presumed they have recruited heavily?

When you have recruited heavily and your points are over you expect some good players to be forced to the B's Hope they get the same money no matter which grade they play in.

Certainly living up to your handle there GOB... do yourself a favour, look at the B grade team sheet from Saturday and let me know who on that list has points. I fairly certain none of those players are getting any coin... a few post game beers, donated by us supporters... that's about it.

Thanks corona man , GOM should have a look at the Agr team sheet
We still have 3 pts up our sleeve + we have had 10 colts go up and with skills coaching
From Rocky Roberts and Micheal Aish we have seen good improvement , also with a strong fitness base
We should be right around the mark .

Does their 'skills' training include gobbing off to the umpires at the bar after a game ? (cause I hear they are both pretty good at that ..... and then leaving it up to the locals to apologise).
