They should go well for the first 7 or 8 rounds then next year.

This is a big coup for Maccy and despite the fact that he hasn't coached before, if you can't play for this bloke, you would struggle to play for anyone. This guy is one of the most respected players in Hills football.

ODB how are Maccy going to go in the longer term?
They had a competeive B grade and I understand the A's had injuries last year.
Good numbers in the junior colts but they looked young although they did improve throughout the year.
But the lack of senior colts coming through must be of concern with only 4 last year and this is where you would want to get your side from for the future.

Bit harsh on Goldsmith isnt it?? He would run rings around most players iv'e seen in the hills. Ramblers would have to fork out a bit of coin one would think. Word has it that Ironbank are set to sign a massive unit to play out of the goal square, a 6'6 tank! any news on this thunder downunder??

Must admit that I would be concerned for their future in the long term and if you've been reading this thread for a while you may remember some of the reasons I have stated in the past.
Main reason that B grade was competetive this past season was because of players who have the ability to play A grade only wanting to play B's. To be fair though, the average age of that side was probably about 28 or 29 so they aren't the long term answer anyway.
Is concerning about the colts but the real future looks to be in the lower age groups but how many of them that will still be on the scene in five years time remains to be seen.

Was more referring to the club than Goldsmith as an individual.

SS, I have heard it all before so "seeing is believing" would be an appropriate comment.

Rumour has it that he might be going back up the hill to Thunder Park to have a kick but I am not in the loop at the moment so only speculation. Who ever knows with Red Muff!

I personally would love to see him pull on the Green and Gold again and go around in the B grade with Sadomka, Campbell and the like, not to take the positions off of the kids and fringe players or to"buy" a flag in the B Grade, but to have a bit more experience and leadership to those kids on the fringe. There are a lot of good kids coming thru at Ironbank and I think a few older heads around them will definately help them in making the step to senior footy as well as the kids who are already there. :D

Yeah I believe the Muff wants to coach, hence his move to Blackwood but I reckon that Strop will still be the B grade coach for 2007 and I don't think Muff would have a problem with that. But as I said I am a bit out of the loop at the moment.

Thunder Down Under may have more goss?

Tanker; wasn't Muff a bit dark on not getting the senior job originally at Ironbank? How will he cope coming back to play under the Uncanny X-Man? Is there any truth in the rumor that Barney French is in fact going to play footy again; not with Thunderers, not with Sturt, but has been sourced out about playing with Port Magpies.

GD - Yeah I think Muff was a bit disappointed he didn't get the senior role last year but I don't think there is any bad blood there, two blokes wanted the job, one got it and one missed out and found a "similar role" else where. The fact is that Muff loves the club and the club loves Muff so I can't see a problem.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about the big barnyard but after playing AFL football I find it hard to believe he would slot straight back into local country footy. A season or two in the SANFL or equivelent would more likely be on the cards and the fact he lived in Port Adelaide when playing for the Smears there could be a connection but I am only speculating.

Is Muff heading back up to the thunderdome to play in the magoos?? Surely not. If they sign his old mate Slugger Roerich, i think you will find Muffa will want to play in the Square next to him. Two massive units to try and contain. Not an easy task. Bomb it in long will be the calls from Exelby
