After the elimination finals on Saturday, don't forget we've got the Under 11 carnival @ Centenary on Sunday.

"Get around it!"

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

With Panther's post quoted above, and Boston leading at half time, I would assume that BP would be in the mix also...

With regards to Centenary and the lack of funds why couldnt we update the toilets (knock over)
and then construct a steel / colourbond Shelter/ grandstand making use of the topography
just north of the coaches box and south of the bar make it a reasonable height to provide
Standing room at the rear for shelter and take it right down to the boundary fence the existing concrete tce
could have solid aluminum benches installed for those who wish to be seated.
I know its not the Taj Mahal but certainly a lot better than what we've got at the moment.

If Council didn't have to take over loan repayments on a $700,000 loan imagine what could be done at Centenary. $70k a year is provided by Council to repay the loan for a facility the bright sparks of the RCC board said could easily be managed from its own revenue.

Hows this pearl from a supposed very astute accountant in Port Lincoln back in 2004

Mr Karutz said loan repayments would be achievable based on the predicted initial patronage of the centre however he believes other sports would be keen to become more involved as the centre becomes more established.

"Once that happens we're going to see the numbers pretty much go through the roof."

I think GK is very astuste, so astute in fact that he knew that when it fell over Council would pick it up and the TFC would get a free top class venue

The point being? Do we want to get something at Centenary or not.
Ask a Tasman member whether they liked losing $500,000 of their money and now being run
by Council.

never understood why we couldn't have a basic shelter to get out of weather as you have desribed, no need to knock over toilets just updrade existing to keep cost down, re-roof with colourbond, install new stainless urinals, basins and plumbing as required, some lighting(mesh covered of course), galv steel doors on toilets and frames you get the idea i'm sure, same at other end. Doesn't have to seat the queen.

Correct Daic's and if the the pitch at centenery is looked after properly ,after cricket season, wouldnt be a bog with good grass coverage should hold most of it together. But hey just ask tangles batting on a pitch that is up and down and under prepared is a bit of fun.

Just wondering, where do our names come from? Ken Whelan was a Sturt 100+ goal kicker, and Mark Dreher was the 800th player to represent Collingwood (15 games, 0 goals), Peter Daicos obviously a gun goal sneak...

just curious...
