Does ex Gawler Central pres. Kingsley Songer count as a mentor, cos he's ALWAYS giving advice to the umpires! LOL
Seriously though, I reckon he gave one away last weekend after giving the umpire (won't use his name) a mighty spray. There was no way the ump could miss hearing it. Very next contest was a 50/50 call (prob should have been 'play on') but a free was given to Tanunda and they goaled directly from it. Kingsley could have been on the stats sheet for that one!
Love his passion for his club though.
As I reflected back on how I hesitated for a second before walking into the lion's cage carrying a leg of lamb, I thought to myself .......... I've got to do something about this lack of confidence.

pac-man, what options have the tiger's got around the footy without BT ?? hahn to spend more time on the ball ??

Cant see Jeff Brown going back to the Lions.
Gee Pac Man your on the ball with everything at Centrals, strange... How are the Brisbane Broncos going?

I try to get to every game and support the club i shed blood , sweat and tears for back in the 90's. Any information i can share with board i happy to do so.

As for the Broncos they are struggling , once the State of Origin is over and Justin Hodges is back we will back to our best.

You're on the money LC.
I know all parties won't be thrilled, but he will be taken in. Time dims the memory of some of the misdemeanours and he has always been straight down the line as a bloke.

While on Gawler Central, Bova and Taylor to have MRI scans this Thursday.

Thats a long time after injuring their knees. Surely they would have phoned Sportsmed on Sunday (the day after) to see Dr Barnes (Port Power Doctor) who specialises in knees to see what damage they had done, before telling them to get a scan done. Now its two weeks on and still none the wiser!

No chance Brad Taylor will be sent to Germany to have cows blood injected into his bung knee to get him right for September action.

He has declared he is only available for the end of season football trip at this stage.

Did occur to me that it was a long hop after the match - maybe the joint has to settle before scans? Don't know as I'm not a doctor, but that info came from the Tiger's own doc.

BLG_Ump - dont take this the wrong way, as I know clubs have the ability to discuss issues with the Umps at any time, but from a supporters point of view, there are games where the whistle blows and EVERYONE (players included) have no idea why the whistle went and whos free it may be!!

It seems the the downright obvious decisions are often missed, then a small 'tick-touchwood' call is made from nowhere.
I applaud the umps as it is a tough job, but they often dont make their lives any easier...

Im not suggesting it has favoured one team over another in any contests (yet I still believe some players NEVER seem to get kick and some ALWAYS seem to get kicks), and I dont think it has changed the outcome of any games, just be nice to see evryone (Players, Coaches, Umps and Supporters) all on the same page most of the time...

If its there, its there. tick-touchwood doesnt exist
its either there or its not
and guys, im just saying, its not as easy as it looks, if you think you can do a better job, or anyone else, were recruiting 24 - 7
personally, i just get sick of continual complaints

i think the umpires in the BL&G are the best in the state, u blokes should get out and have a look at some other comps and u will see just how good they are. the amateur league are very bad and u should also realize how lucky we are to have neutral umpires for every grade. they do a fantastic job and the junior programme they have is excellent
Not exactly 100% true. Earlier this season, 2 umpires with very strong ties to the Lions officiated in a Gawler South match at U15 level. The fall out was reasonably serious from that unfortunate event.

The white maggots dont give us full forwards a fair go.

There will be a full back and loose man in defense all over a full forward like a cheap suit and you wont hear a whistle. If that happens in the mid field its a free kick every time.

Very much horses for courses with the maggots.

couldnt agree more, big forwards always get the rough end of the stick. but the language was abit over the top. have to be nice to the umps, if they didnt do it who would?

Just a little off topic but a very ordinary act of stupidity by the water boy (currently Injured player) for Angaston's U/15s this morning. When 2 opponents are niggling each other there was no reason to run in and lay a couple of bumps on the Tanunda player. I believe a formal complaint will be lodged as this was a disgraceful act by a water boy who may be out because of injury (and now should also be suspended or whatever punishment they can hand out). This lack of discipline needs to be wiped out ASAP and considering the Angaston coach was also the Association U/15's coach this year maybe he needs to address the situation with his own players at club level.

Catchit, my toughts on your question regarding the upcoming south coaching job.

$2.25 - Mark Brant - Unlucky to have been axed from the Cawler Central contingency last year, which decided to go in favour of one of there own mini buses.
$4.15 - Simon Koch - What he doesnt know about the opposition isnt worth knowing, played as Seelanders 2IC for a number of years and would see the Lions as an oppotune club to start his A-Grade coaching career.
$4.55 - Shane Broad - Will the club go for a younger variaty of coach, has had successfully coached at A-Grade level and may be an appointment with a long term vision.
$6.25 - Matt Hermann - Seems to have his lobists backing from his Gawler Central contingency, although they can be very easily impressed.
$6.50 - Malacolm McGrath - Would the Mesiah be prepared to dust off the coaching board and bring the club back to their glory days.
$25.00 - Jeff Brown - A real roughie, will the Lions try and lure the former coach from his CDFC role.
$80.00 - Luke McCraken - May be a smokey with the current reserves side sitting in the four.
$999.99 - Texas Rattlesnake - Appears to go missing when the going gets tough.
Been to the top of the mountain - 1908, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, 1915, 1920, 1925, 1926, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1945, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1977, 1986, 2003, 2013

i did read that actually, but he still shouldnt be umpiring 15s/17s games where his sons are playing, and theres plenty of time to get to the game in time for the As if he umpires at another ground, or just find another goal umpire,
