Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Many good points made re Callington in recent posts. I've been away for weeks but now very interested in disentangling it all. Notwithstanding, it's probably worth noting (again) that Cally's best effort in 13 years was 4th in 1998, (should've been higher!!) when no player received a brass razoo. Quality players abounded around then and many were locals. It was supposed to be a club where simple sport prevailed. Oh how they've changed!

From what i understand at callington, there is plenty of money to be thrown around, but attracting players there is going to be hard. Luvayarn you are right the players that went to callington have dealt with barnett in the past, but most were young and just saw the $$ and believed the talk of barnett who promised the world. i believe that barnett is struggling with recruits, scraping the bottom of the barrell. when you recruit players who are over 35, fat and slow or only want to play when it suits them what hope have you got.

Reckon they all went into the 'black hole' Choppy. Cally have had trouble fielding U17's in recent years and missed several seasons of late. Some of their juniors made themselves available for A grade (eg Jai McMurtrie) but those who weren't big enough or up to it just disappeared, as they do. Junior development hasn't been all that great there for years now, with the club concentrating on keeping $ seekers happy.

Speaking of $ seekers at Callington Crumber, word is Adam Saliba will be lining up for the Eagles this season.

Heard an unverifiable whisper re that Cougar and will chase it up. I've been out of circulation of late. Cally apparently had their first pre-season training last week. Don't know exactly how many were out but I heard it was a pretty paltry turn-out

From what I hear Shane Russell is all but retired and concentrating on his hotel/motel business. I doubt you'll see him playing footy for Meadows next year.
