Hows the oval up there at Berri?[/quote]
The oval is looking like a treat. Best oval in Country SA.

Very big call. You wouldnt want to get too much rain up there or it might be under water. The best ovals dont have cricket pitches in the middle

Now that's funny.
This is my 13th season of footy in the Riverland and I think I've played in the rain about the same amount of times.

That'll be quite nice for footy in the afternoon.

Although, if the fog hangs around like it did yesterday, the early game could be interesting!

In 2006 at the country championships they played the carnival at Berri Oval all weekend.

It rained constantly all weekend, by late Sunday afternoon the oval was still in good shape, not boggy at all and had proven to be a great venue for the carnival. Looking forward to getting up there again and enjoying playing on the deck again!

Not much subsoil moisture here, so when it rains the water soaks in well.

True. Adelaide Oval and MCG are shockers when it comes to playing footy. ;)

it seems as though Central and Murray South East got a decent deal, with each of them having a 3 game break between their 2 games, while every other team has just a 1 game break.

i understand it's impossible to have every team have exactly the same break unless it's played on more than one oval, but surley they could have done a little bit more even than that?

I'd rather have a smaller break. My body would seize up if I had to wait to long!

Berri is the best country oval i have seen, surface is great and even in metropolitan amateur footy there would not be many better surfaces around.

The only problem I ever had with the Berri oval was the wind was always blowing the wrong way in the last quarter of a grand final.

Brand spankin new deck out there with plenty of grass cover too. Has been holding up well in the wet so far.

Last time I looked the MCG doesnt have a pitch during footy season, and Adelaide oval has only a handfull of games per season on it and I bet if you asked players they would like the hitting that hard clay. I presume you arent a player and wouldnt know. As a player Berri oval definately isnt the best going around, that club rooms side wing is a shocker
