I can see both sides of the arguments there, but the sides i think are most successful are sides that combine the two. Find a balance of good recruits and nurtured juniors and success follows.

Not on the fence at all. There's no reason why you can't do both. I agree that a majority of your club's success will come from juniors though. A look at Centrals in the SANFL though is a great indicator of how to balance recruiting with junior development.

Whereas West, who tend to recruit in bulk for various reasons are still at the foot of the table.

i agree with BJ get 3 at 300 n mix em with your local lads ,you would get more out of your side that way ,i think it sets a bad vibe in your side if your paying one player that much coin ,he would want to get bog every week to justify that much coin BUT if a club is willing to do so goodluck n as a team mate you would hope he would buy the piss after EVERY game !!
