Thanks Dogwatcher. Just thought Gibson and number 4 J Thomson were good. Obviously Damien Stevens and Shane Clonan and many more for Waikerie. They had an ascendancy in ruck that may have surprise Loxton. Also Gigson crumbed Loxton taps and often just kicked the ball wide to Thomson, Stevens etc. Hard to lock on to that when the first kick is so wide but it was effective.
Just confims what I thought re Loxton best players. From my observations Leigh Kruger and Nick Uren were the best with Westbrook definitely coming into the game. Braden Smith and Ash Montgomery had their moments ,generally though many Loxton players failed to lay tackles and seemed a little jaded. Perhaps the opposotion were just too elusive. I mean Waikerie does have a lot of midfieldeers and strong guys like Plant. Not too many weaknesses yet Loxton had them at one stage in second semi. And Berri could beat Waikerie and Renmark but not get near Loxton while Loxton and Renmark had good battles. Strange.

SF, I was concerned about Waikerie's possible ruck ascendancy prior to the GF.

I see your point and while Waikerie have a lot of players who might not be considered local, that's their prerogative.

Loxton's chosen to go down the local path and trust their juniors to develop, as have North and Barmera this season.

But, I don't think there's too much point complaining about a team having loads of imports if they're playing under the rules. Each club has the option and ALL clubs have done it in the past. It just seems Waikerie are the best at getting what they want out of their recruits.

I fully agree. I am not complaining but the longevity of a club will always be best served by local product. Paying players is only justified if you get the right ones who give service to the club and when they leave don't leave a legacy of ruin. Some clubs get into a situation where they have to always find the money .... if it dries up the foundations of junior development need to be in place. Cheers.

Waikerie seemed to have done pretty well for the past 20 years paying players with no signs of the money drying up.
I congratulate Loxton, Loxton North and Barmera-Monash on running with the young talent. It takes a lot of guts to do that.
Renmark and Berri have done the same to a lesser extent.

probably need to remember that just because they are local doesn't meet their not getting some good coin.
