Oh and Robert Laidlaw writes in the bunyip about the APFL, and he gets his info straight from the results page, You'd expect better from a bloke in this league.

I'm no journalist but i would suggest that he identifies a game, such as United Vs Mallala this week, and gets there, he can then write about how that match affects the ladder and then a review of the upcoming games. Look for match of the round and give that the coverage, i mean if Gordon Ramsey was to go to Balaklava and help at the Producer, That's what he'd say, plus a few f%$k's here and there.

From what I've heard the Producer aproached Kym to do footy write ups after he sent in some Lower Gilbert cricket write ups a couple years ago. Kym still wanted to play footy so he would only be able to see United games but they still wanted him to do it anyway.

I think Kym does a good job considering he only gets to see the one game a week. If you want total coverage the Producer needs to hire someone not playing who can get to differen't games. So if you're not happy I think you need to direct you're suggestions to the Producer not Kym.

Personally I didn't mind it when someone from the home team sent in the match reports, as long as each club has a person dedicated enough each week to do this.

Sure has - the lad can play - I think he kicked something like 8-6 and missed a few as well. Deserves a shot at the 'A's

If not, then, why bother!!!! :?

If Jars was paid to go to all games then I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem writing about it. But seriously, the only way you can cover all three games is via comments from coaches/managers who are at the game. Clubs used to write their own reports, but I think it's hard to find someone to do it week in and week out. I'd just be thankful that there's somebody taking the time to write about our games.

From the comments I've heard from people who dont go to footy but keep an eye on proceedings mainly through the Producer, everyone seems to think the quality of coverage this league is getting has improved dramatically in the last year and a half.

I honestly think that Kym is unbiased and if anything leans too much against United but that would be natural. I think you are being a bit harsh on Kym Rooster considering he would be the one bloke who would give this league the most public/media coverage. He also does a Saturday morning radio show on BBBFM with a weekend review/preview on the Adelaide Plains league.

Justin Antony - When he's hot he's hot. When he's not he's terrible. Not sure if TW would be able to fit him in the A's at the moment. They already have a similar player in Grugovic who is a sneak type player. Not sure if they could carry them both in the same team, especially if they are having a bad day. Both hot & cold players

you are correct there MC - both very similar players - Grgurovic has the runs on the board at the moment (120 odd goals and U17 assoc. medalist, 3 seasons senior footy) and JA yet to put together a consistent full season - I reckon last year he played a fair bit of 'A's. IMHO if he was willing to play he would be in the team with Grgurovic as well. Makes for a more potent forward line and automatic pressure on the opposition.

Re: newspaper coverage - I don't get to read each and every week but I know BL from the Bunyip doesn't just rely on the paper results - he also extracts comments from those he knows attended the matches (coaches etc).

Not sure what other leagues and newspapers do - do they have a number of reporters on hand to cover the games? Most papers will pay for a good article - I reckon if the Bunyip/Producer advertised this fact they may get a bit better response from potential football writers.

Then there's the old story about the Advertiser writer who did his best football coverage from the front bar of the nearest local - never seeing a ball kicked :) .

One of the funniest things I've heard on the footy field was last year, Antony calling an umpire a midget and telling him he had no friends.

You might have started soomething here PoA..... Justin Cicca once asked an umpire if he was dropped on his head at birth which i thought was pretty classic, might explain why he never won a magarey medal!

C'mon guys. The umpires have feelings too. They're there to do a job and shouldn't be teased....but seriously, Cicca was robbed of the a Magarey a few years back.

Yes he is the bloke, also rates himself but when asked to step up, he often refused and the few games he has played he did not preform. I think fitzy can also see this  so he leaves him in the Bs, (where he can stay in his comfort zone) :( does have a special talent.

sorry i asumed they were from two wells because of the bias towards them.
(yes for all we know they couldve been deliberately leading me astray!)

all i was doing was comparing the only footy write ups i have seen of the APFL

Listen you blokes, I have no problem with Kym, i've heard him on the radio and he goes alright more power to him, my comments circle around the fact that the producer publishes articles (Whether Kym's written them or someone else) and they just aren't detailed! Someone who was there would know the details, and it read's as though someone has just written about the results!

What i'm suggesting (Again! ) is that Kym pick's a match of the round and covers that, then he can do previews on all the other upcoming games, it's just no good to pick up the producer and read very little actual details about a game because no-one was there to write about it, Not Kym's fault though, he can give more time to the match he does cover.
Sorry people I only deal in facts!
