Yes the one who used to umpire in NAFA, I don't think he was knocked out, I think that happened to a Lions player in the B grade.

Lions b grader was knockout senseless just about by Martin the goal square. Fitzy had a cut above the eye and apparently in the eye as well.

Heard Fitzy ended up with a fractured eye socket, the person who hit him ended up with a broken collarbone. Hope the SGL ban that clown for ever from the SGL.

Have heard the South B grade player only got 2 matches, are the SGL serious? or still the biggest laughing stock in country footy for their poor administration?

Hahaha I think you are on the money here. I believe SGL is very poorly managed which is a crying shame because it could be a super country league if it returned footy to home grounds and played all four grades on a Saturday.

Yep. Cant be good for the SGL "brand" surely. The worst part about all this that the SGL GFs have had similar incidents in recent history so why wouldnt they ensure steps are taken to prevent it. ie Keep player huddles apart and have security for umpires and players alike at the breaks. Its not inconceivable that the SGL could be found legally negligent and then who knows, perhaps everyday supporters wont be allowed onto the ground during breaks to cover themselves. As for the SGL tribunal. Always a head scratcher. Finals penalties should be even harsher than minor round. There is no doubt that results over the years have been influenced by tactical thuggery.
Thats my view anyway. What do others think?

I've been told umpires requested security and were told by the sgl fund your own security we are not. Add now sgl don't use reserve umpires so they don't have to pay for their services. I think the sgl need to follow the sanfl and don't allow any supporter in the centre square where they listen from outside the square.

Just saw the footage myself. What a dog act! To knockout a kid who is not even looking and then try follow up with a few more punches while he is unconscious disgraceful to say the least. Sa country footy has had a few bad instances this year and they all need to be made an example of. SGL looking pretty poor at the moment. Your not goin to attract good footballers to your comp with that shit goin on.

Good read. I reckon the vision should be shown to all so the player in question never plays again. I've heard he was no where to be seen at the after party, I wonder if he has been shown the door?

Reading this you wonder why umpires requested protection. Sgl are in big trouble in my opinion they have open up a law suit through neglect as concerns were not taken seriously.

That is bloody terrible. Whoever did it should not be allowed into another SGL game ever, the club he was supporting should be ashamed.

Number 30 should never be allowed to play football anywhere. Not just in this league, any league, anywhere. What a disgrace.
