A special young man, will be missed by many. RIP Rick, we shared some special times.

Today's paper says he is still fighting for his life although critically injured, hopefully this is correct

Unfortunately I've heard he's died too. I'm originally from Port Pirie and have a few mutual friends. Facebook may be a massive waste of time, but it helps to get new quickly - good or bad.

I think the word has been thrown about a fair bit due to other recent events, but this truly is a tragedy. From all reports a great young bloke and it really makes you appreciate that some things are bigger than football. I believe the SGL will be having a minute's silence before each Grand Final this weekend in his honour.

On the grand Final, what do people think? I cant be home for it but know the Cattery will be pumping saturday night if the boys get up. I think we will be better off for the extra final to Southies cause we did lack finals experience and last week got our do or die game in. South havenot had that same pressure ...yet!

The A grade is set up to be a cracker and there are valid reasons why either team should win on the day so it's pretty hard to pick a winner! I think South probably have a bit more class around the ground than Sollies do, but like all Sollies sides they will come out of the blocks damn hard and fight tooth and nail at every contest. The Cats will need to keep their discipline in check and they will go pretty close but I'm leaning towards South by around 3-4 goals with BOG between Margitich, Horner and Schmidt.

I'd expect Tom Payne to be the extra man in from the South semi final side, but Sollies were dealt a blow with Bateson (who would've been the automatic inclusion) being rubbed out for 6 weeks(!) for threatening an umpire while a spectator at half time in the semi, so who will be the extra man in for them?

based on your tips then, I'd say a Pirie 3peat is on the cards.
Whats the latest on Hoare's injury, unlikely to play by all reports.

Just spoke to the Duckmeister and he said the Cats are ready to go. I hope Monkey Hellmans comes up for the game, he would surely be welcome in the Cat Den.

Hardly sticking your neck out there mate! I'll go for the slightly longer odds and say C Heron.

I hope the league has seen fit to recognise a long serving goal umpire Trevor Weste who passed away last week and incorporate it with the minute silence for the young Centrals lad.
Trevor has been goal umpiring in Pirie for over 30 years and before that was involved in the Broughton league with Wandearah.
