Echunga looked well drilled though and moved the ball very quickly. First three quarters of the 6 period match was Mt Lofty B Grade who were very undermanned and gave the A Grade a 10 goal margin to catch up.

Yeah I only started keeping scores when the A graders came on.
I thought the game was quite scrappy really to be honest.
A lot of young kids from both sides trying to flex their muscles in a trial game just looked stupid. Maybe if they focused on playing football they would give more to their team.
Echunga looked like they were missing Cranna, Fleety, Henke, White, Sheehan, Maslin, Koop, Munn and Pocock, plus Pickett if he is still playing there.
It would be great to see Luke Tester back out there for the Demons!

+Snell, + Liston, + Another Sheehan ..... I watched all 6 quarters and did not see any youngsters flexing muscles!!

Not sure what game you were watching panther!

Snell and Liston have both gone. The other Sheehan played majority of the season in B grade so didn't really count him.
Well from where I was sitting I saw quite a bit. A lot of young fella's trying to run through blokes rather than go for the ball, a few back handers, roughing up guys on the ground after they tackle them.
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

Snell, Liston, Guy, Beverlander, Rothe and Threadgold playing elsewhere from last year grand final team. Add those guys unavailable on saturday there must have only been 5 or 6 playing from that team, yes doesnt look good for Mt Lofty

Can guarantee you that Yank were far from full strength. Played with a squad of 27 exposing alot of senior colts and regular B Graders to a taste of A Grade footy. Was a scrappy game at times but played in great spirit. Barker got up by a couple of goals i think. The new digital scoreboard looks great too!!!

Does look pretty good. Used to love working up on the old one during A Grade changing the numbers but I do like this one.

great signing for the lions, and wouldn't have come cheap. luckily for them this is not usually a problem.

have their other recruits from the last couple of year stayed on? if they have, tv will be a very strong unit in 2013.

Heard today there may not be a C grade comp this year. Ironbank and Mt Lofty aren't fielding a side, Bridgey and Mt Barker are doubtful. So that leaves Blackwood, Uraidla and Milang. I question Uraidla as they struggled last year to field a side at times. So there will be a lot of disappointed players from Blackwood and Milang, I guess they could just play each other every other week... maybe not.

I heard this also ATS from a very reliable source. This is incredibly disappointing. Milang has good numbers on the track and could field a full side as always. C Grade requires an interested, energetic and committed HFL co-ordinator to motivate clubs and promote the benefits of this very well-supported comp. It seems there is no-one. If the League is serious and sincere about country football, they must find one to encourage and assist the doubtful clubs and support the willing ones. Isn't that what a Board is for? Surely they can recruit within?

Does the HFL really want dozens of committed and interested Senior players to exit this League or lose interest in footy altogether? And what of the fringe senior colts? :? :? :?

I know it's incredibly unlikely but what would the odds of Milang making a last second entry into Country Div. would be easy to fit in. What numbers do they have?

We don't have enough PfP. Nowhere near enough to field A's and B's. That's why we're happy to remain in C Grade. We live within our means yet play competitive footy with a full side. Most are locals and wouldn't want to play anywhere else. We'd be a loss to the comp.

What about a merger with Blackwoods Cs to form As and Bs in Country Div? You could be called the Blackwood Panthers or similar. Just a thought.

The Country div is a basket case enough as it is! The sooner the Board/Clubs make a proactive move towards a 3 division comp, the better for the comp.
The 3rd div would allow the likes of Milang to compete within their means and probably would've saved Callington from dying!

So Div 3 wouldn't have B Grade sides or juniors then? I don't understand how having a third division helps Milang get juniors and a B grade.

I guess it wouldnt really work if Milang just had a B Grade would it? You'd need another team in A grade too.

What are the realistic chances of Milang having A's,B's & 2 junior grades in the future.

Milang need to contact the Southern Football League and try and join their C Grade competition as previously mentioned. It is a well supported division unlike the HFL version.

It's not that far Vulcan, travel time wouldn't be that much different than Brighton to Aldinga. By the way can you tell me how many teams are in the SFL C Grade comp?
