AT we do remember that when we decide to become mtlofty and play in an even higher grade, the (SAFA)?? our C grade decided they werent good enough for that level so they started a new club worthy of the div2 comp and nothing more.

Boys ... what are we doing here? .. slagging off at any club doesn't do any good. Like most competitions, rivalries exist and I'd suggest Mt Lofty and Ironbank have a pretty good one, but also have a fair respect and working relationship. The Thunderers have been excellent in helping to promote the game in the local area, by ways of participating in night games, etc. It would be sad if a few blokes having a crack at each other on this forum, caused a breakdown in the relationship. Friendly banter is great, but to get personal is a little bit rough and probably not becoming the behaviour expected, no doubt from both clubs. Sure, every side has loud-mouthed, uncouth supporters at some stage, but generally I reckon there is usually a great banter between rival clubs ... it's one of the great attributes of the HFL .. surely we don't want to stoop to the level of some areas of metropolitan competitions ... anyway, let's get back onto the real goss ... any thoughts on the coaching positions at Hahndorf and Onkas, appear to be the only vacant jobs, other clubs have reappointed the 2006 coach ... have heard the Magpies did approach a prominent Mt Lofty player from the grand final ... was there a view towards being a coach ... apparently the reply was somewhat as you'd expect!

Yeah I heard Young Pistols knocked back Hahndorf for the Senior coaching position! Didn't think he could make the step up from U'17s so quickly!

Yeah guys, relax, take a load off, put your feet up, have a holiday, maybe Bermuda. Remember the only place for real nastiness is in the home when you come home and your wife hasn't got dinner on the table and a beer in your hand.......Grrrrr!

Yeah don't stoop to Metro footy...... Oh wait, what happened in the Country Div GF? At least there weren't any machetes!

Apparently it was brad burch who they had tried to poach. Funny how they mustn't have down their research and known that 3 of his step brothers play at Lofty. So therefore you would think that there would be no chance of making the move.

On another note. I have noticed that up in the hills, it is very rare that you will get a player moving from one club to another within the league. It seems as though players are sacred in the hills and clubs will fight tioll the end to not let a player amke the move, even if they don't want to play at that club anymore.

Although Mick Danielle is an exception.
How good is footy!

Chook, not step brother - brother in law

On another note, woody is not out for the season with knee, only had an arthroscopy and will be right to start pre season training.

Good point Chook.

I think another reason people don't shift is that they have passion for their club, which is clearly being show on this forum. There's no way I'd ever play for another club against the Devils, and I'm sure the Ironbank and Uri boys that have been up here sticking up for their club wouldn't move either.

Burchy is the king!!! Hands of Handorf!!!

Agree with chook here about clubs being tough on clearing players to other clubs within the hills. Does anybody know about Sam Flinn in 2007, surely bridgewater would be kind enough to give the boy a clearance and let him move over to hahndorf finally. he has been stuck down in the riverland for a couple of years and im sure he only wants to play at home with his mates. anybody heard the word about this bloke coz i know the guy can play.

last time i spoke to flinny he was actually enjoying it quite alot where he is.. not sure about nxt yr though.

people arent all as loyal as you wrote Chook. Chad and leith Marston, M. Morrisey and Tarque Williamson, natale della-torre, brad newman, all ex-devs. tim parham of hahndorf- ex-blackwood, brock gifford, been everywhere. brad smith, IB to Blackwood. dempsey ralph, onkas to mtbarker, oli temme came to us from lobe. think this proves you wrong chicken!!

must admit though not always just a case of being loyal or not, i can understand people wanting to play with their mates. not many of the above left because of more money.. good on them for that..

Footballer ... Mypolonga coach Peter Milsom (ex Loby) rates Sam Flinn pretty highly, but admits the big fella could probably be a bit fitter. Still a bit tough with all the travelling he has to do. Interestingly his younger brother Tom was able to pursue his hopes of playing at Hahndorf, so I reckon the time might be nigh for Bridgewater to allow Sam to play at another Hills club if he wants. He's been lost to Hills footy for couple of years, so let's all move on ... I reckon Bridgey have far more pressing issues than a guy who left them some time ago now. Have heard a suggestion that a key forward who tried out at another HFL club is likely to trot back up the hill and resume at his old stamping ground, after a less than productive jaunt in the woods!
Also, well done to Matt Cooper, a past HFL champion now having won a second SANFL medal, and part of the Eagles fighting effort against Centrals. May be he's the man to return as the 'messiah' for the Dorfers down the line.

s flynn only wanted to go to magpies as his cousin was coaching. obviously from sounds of things he is no longer coaching the magpies. flynn is enjoying himself and will stay at mypo unless the shanty can prove a more dominant force. chances not likely. m lancaster was originally a shanty too! d stevens also played a bit for shanty in colts too.

Ronnie ... add J. Makris, D. Dunbar, S. Furber, P. Mona, A. Lamshed ... all likely types who have moved on from Bridgewater ... must be some reason players seek greener pastures, apart from chasing success?

well dunbar dad was a original member member of ironbank so fare enough. furber close friend of dunbar. t flynn left raiders for magpies but raiders finished above them so to that was a great move! mona no big loss anyway, to old! they may have been chasing success but none of them got success this year. look at furber and dunbar! for a club that is struggling not too many players are leaving

Work in Murray bridge so follow their league a little. Mypo are enjoying very similar success to Bridgy at the moment - Competitive at times, but also get flogged regularly. Mind you it has only been a 3 hoarse race for a couple of years up here though.
So obviously enjoys it up here. Perhaps a couple of $$$$ makes it a little sweeter?

Joel makris did indeed play in the mtlofty u/17 side and was very valuable, i know for a fact he moved to lofty because his friends convinced him to and he did not have many friends in the bridgewater side, probably a good move!

as said before his friends played for lofty so he went there. wasn't very good friends with any shantys therfore it was hard for him to fit in but good on him for winning a premiership. once again if mona was a quality player he would be playing a grade not b grade. once again to old and injuried regually.
