Heard a rumour Ian Perrie is lining up in the HFL next season on quite a substantial salary package. Can anyone confirm that?

According to the GSFL site he is playing for Encounter Bay.

Have heard the GF will be on the 14th of September this year, which is a week earlier than usual. Can anyone confirm?

Sounds about right. The draw has been released for the minor round. The 2013 season starts a week earlier than last season, on Sat 6 April.

I see Mt Barker are advertising for a paid treasurer position! Never seen this before.

Perhaps it's time for an SANFL club to be based there and take some of those sponsorship $$ to keep the league even.

League even? I don't think they are quite Man U yet with one A Grade and U13 (I think it was them who won it) in a row.

Hats off to them to be honest, a professional outsider in the role of Treasurer could only be a good thing for them.

But having not seen the advertisement, might it just be a couple/few thousand dollars as a thank you for their time and recovering of travelling costs like a B grade coach would receive? Wouldn't think it would be that uncommon.

It's 20 hrs per week + volunteer work around the club I think, so permanent part time Id say. Sure it's a great thing for them and we'd all do the same in their position.

But is this start of the bigger picture, that Mt Barker needs either another club or even better an SANFL club like Elizabeth? This isn't a crack at MBFC, just noting that their financial position is surley moving well ahead of other clubs and does it matter to other clubs in the HFL?

I think the second team is inevitable. Perhaps it is time for the HFL to seriously start looking at it. I don't believe an SANFL side would be successful, with SANFL clubs already struggling to fill reserves sides I think the SANFL is more likely to reduce clubs than gain. Having said that, perhaps a relocation then. I know Sturt always talk about it. Not sure how much difference that would make to the Roos though, perhaps a little.

No one is saying that. The talk was either the SANFL creating a new club based in Mt Barker (Most likely called Hills or similar), which is an idea that has been floated before. Or a club relocate their home base to Mt Barker, which Sturt have seriously looked at I believe due to their problems with Unley. No suggestion of the Mt Barker Barkeroos leaving the HFL to join the SANFL.

Wouldnt that be something else

If Mount Barker is going to have a second club where will its home ground be. Only one i can think of is Cornerstone Collage but i'm not sure where exactly they will build Clubrooms/Changerooms there

Would have to create a new oval I would have thought. Towards Wistow perhaps, as that is the area I think the State Government was wanting to encourage 9000 people to move to. Could give them a good base.

Only other option I can think of is re-developing Dunn Park. Does the soccer club still use that?

Mt Barker once had a powerful A grade cricket team and now only compete in B grade. I would think the club would be enjoying their remarkable run of one premiership and understand the good times never last. There are enough clubs close enough to Mt Barker to cater for any excess players.

I agree with this for 2013, but 10 years down the track with new developments etc. I think it will be able to sustain 2 teams easily. Best for the HFL to start thinking about it now so they get it right.

It's the phenomenal sponsorship opportunities that exist in Mt Barker that the surrounding clubs should be cashing in on. Clearly Mt Barker is flush with funds so some of the other clubs nearby should get in on the action.

If Mt Barker can only produce a B grade cricket team clearly something is not right on the committee. Sounds the complete opposite of the footy club.

Are there still plans in place to move the Mt Barker oval to bald hills Rd alongside the golf club or have finaces killed that idea off?
