From Ironbank surely Scott Windelborn or Adam Witterson would need consideration, Daniel Exelby aswell?

not a bad team at all, dawes has been good but maybe wouldve put damien stapleton instead. never saw josh contin do much, i know he plated association but watched a fair few onkas games and thought a loffler, or alf stevens could have easily been in instead.

Cheers for that GTS!
Hmm, a bloody good team. Hard to fault a lot of it.
See your point, Armytank, but I really couldn't see where you'd sneak in those IB boys.
And Thomas in a BACK pocket? Maybe as a second ruck/CHF option?

The fact that Ironbank only won one game lends to those boys not being picked. If Ironbank finished in the five would they be more of a chance?

The same could be said for any number of players from other clubs but perhaps that is why they didn't make the GF? As stated in a previous post, it is fitting that most players named are from the sides that played in the GF.

I think it would be more interesting to see the which players where being considered for the side but not named. But in the end it is just a bull$h!t side for the paper so I don't think we need to analize it too much. Congratulations too all those named though, just a little more recognition for the years efforts by all.

ArmyT. ur right finishing in the top 5 certainly helps, but i dont think in previous years there would have been such a two sided side, prove me wrong, im not sure. but whether its a news paper side or not, its pretty close to the money. its much better than our association side anyway. pretty daunting lining up against that side, good luck winning!!!!!!!!

got to love hills footy lads. what a good year it was(grand finals aside) premo comp for sure!!!!!!

Gotta agree with 2words here GTS. The Grannies were the pinnacle of 2006. The U17's performance of the Devs throughout the finals was arguably one of the best I've ever seen.

Those blokes showed they have more determinated and spirit than the majority of the HFL A Grade sides put together. They were clearly not the most talented side, but lifted to another level when it counted most, which is a trademark of great players.

I'm pumped that these blokes play at our club. Talent only gets you so far (Blackwood, Ironbank U17's, Onkas A Grade).........a big heart carries you over the line.

Having said that the Super B's played their worst game of the year in the GF and still won.

The A grade game was played at cracking pace, and the best team won in the end.

GF day was awesome. Let's talk it up cos it was the greatest feeling after being down for so long!

On the Central team of the year, I think that Jeff Pistola was clearly biased towards Mt Lofty. Seriously all his write ups about Mt Lofty are biased and it was no surprise to me that the team contained so many Devils players. Maybe if the team was chosen by someone who isn't clearly favouring one club, then it would have been a fairer team. The man knows nothing!

Your right bazz, pistols is a devils man, but i would hardly say he is bias in his write ups. He writes what happens and on who is playing good footy. If you dont beleive me, grab a couple of couriers from a couple of years ago and have a look what he wrote about us then.
Question, what mt lofty players do you believe didnt deserve to be in the team of the year. I think they all earnt their spot.

GTH, WRONG, had to drink the scooners to make sure you got home buddy. I look forward in anticipation to next thursday when i get cut and you give me a lift home - Done!

OK then bazz, let's pick a team of the year containing plenty of players from sides who didn't make the finals, cos clearly they were the best in the comp.

Obviously the reason these blokes got a gig was because they are the best players in the comp. Why else did Mt Lofty and Uri make the GF? I actually think there's a fair case for a couple of other Devils to get a gig (Matt and Damien Stapes), and maybe if someone else had picked the team they would have got a guernsey.

Pistols isn't biased. Sure he talked up the Devs, but cos of the amount of Pints I skulled on Mad Monday, I can't remember what his reason was??!!! I do remember waking up still blind Tuesday with my hand on the Sav and a medal round my neck though!

Whatever GTS - Go the Ling!

DA, the ling will go crumbLING. Again..

Bazz what would be the reason that there were 6 uri players in the side then, only one less than lofty. if someone was biased to mtlofty like you say, ill give you the hot tip they wouldnt have put in a token shanty!!

Jeffry Pistola aint biased, ive had the pleasure of talking to him on a couple of occasions whilst being out and about with his son, and he loves his devils but he is also open to other good players and he doesnt just shut the door on people sayin that someone is good or bad, great bloke, great footy writer, and he loves a cold west end, does he have life membership at devil dome???? If not he would have to be in consideration wouldnt he?

Nope, but he's been there before.

Rusty is a gun, but Ironbank need a bit more to shift up the ladder IMO.

Does the Indian know?

And the Stunting Thunderers need more than Rusty, and probably more than Barnaby French if they could get him. As well as Chris Judd.....oh wait he's signed for the Dollar Devils next year.

I reckon the Bankers would do better to try and bring their juniors through and be resigned to the lower places for a couple of years. They have some talent and a few rebuilding years would see them move up the ladder. It just takes some patience and then some good additional talent, ask those ruddy Lofty lads.
