I couldnt get over to watch the game yesterday between West & Centrals, appears to have been a cracker of the game. I heard West were up by 5 or so goals at half time, what happened to them in the 2nd half?

Now that we're about halfway through the season is anyone willing to stick their neck out and predict the Madigan Medal? My standout so far would have to be big Al Margitich from South. Has been in the best players for his side pretty much every week, team winning regularly and being a mobile ruckman is under the umpires' eyes all day.

I agree with you FW, Margitich would be the stand out at the moment easy with Matt Woolford & Greg Phillips close behind and Graham Cooke having a steady year with the cats.

Speaking of the Madigan - is it true that Mark Bickley at 18 is the youngest player to win it? Not sure what year he picked it up.

Not certain if he is the youngest but would be very close to holding that accolade. Won it in 1988 if i recall correctly.

You are correct Bigstack Bickley did win it in 1988, however I think the youngest ever winner of the coveted Madigan medal was Cam Coligan the diminutive rover who played for Risdon in the 70's/80's, from memory I think he was 17.

Cam Coligan won the Madigan Medal in 1971 with 19 votes - not sure of his age.

what year did Colin Ferme win the Madigan? He moved to Broughton-Mundoora not long after and won the Northern Areas Sunday Mail medal in 1996.

how a bloke can get rubbed out for booting a ball away in frustration, yet countless striking offences get a) left unreported; or b) the same one week penalty, has my head red raw from scratching it...petulant yes; worthy of a game on the sidelines, give me a break

a) its pretty obvious what happened squidbrain, struck booted the ball away in frustration over the fence and got 1 game suspension, how about the sgl get serious and rub blokes out for head high contact, striking instead of these piddly things, doesn't do their credibility any favours

b) well at souths unless i'm mistaken we are top in 3 grades, experiencing a lull as could be anticipated with such a strong start to the year/less depth due to unavailable players..am i missing something?

Yes you are mistaken, for this week at least! Not too much to worry about though at souths.

I was just asking a question and thanks for the reply. All clubs experience a lull and lack of depth at some stage. Its better to do it now then come September like you have in the past few seasons i guess.
