What a weekend! 8)

Although the lads finished fifth, it was a fantastic trip.

Well done to Mark Habner, who was easily our best, as well as Haydn Parker, on making the state country side.

The bus trip back was something else! 8)

Did you hit the town on Saturday night. Had a great time when we went there in 2007.

I'm not sure, but the SANFL has just done a deal with the two current hosting councils (Port Pirie and Berri Barmera) as a sort of "partnership proposal" which will see the two areas hosting the championships until 2012.
It entails both councils paying $5000 to the SANFL to host the event.
Whether it was to suit zones on both sides of the state on alternative years, or what not, I don't know.
Would be a big trek for any team heading to Lincoln for the weekend other than maybe Northern.
Mind you, getting EP to the Riverland would be similar I would imagine.

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

SS- "Hit the town" is a relative statement in Pirie I reckon... Not exactly party central...

I did, however, wake up with a beer most mornings, and "hit the town" as much as you could...

The Sportsmans Tavern was very sporting in giving me some well deserved Pokie winnings!!!

The bus trip was fine- any longer and I would've been in some trouble though...

Fev...

Probly had Maggot in my top five for us...

Sammy in the top twenty... Wasn't that flash, but obviously has skills to be playing at that level.

1. Habs
2. Parks
3. Stolly
4. Keatley
5. Maggot.

Interesting to see young Stolly was one of the best players on Saturday and also rated in the top 5 as above after some of the comments after he was selected.

Yeah, I'll put my hand up and say I was critical of Stolly getting picked for Mortlock, let alone EP!

But after the weekend I'll take any bet that he makes at least the state country side within two years.

Two things to come out of the EP trip:

Cove07 took my bet on getting a vote in my one game of the year...

Coyote Ugly came out of the woodwork... The guy everyone suspected all along...

So to quote Coyote, "Name and Shame" Brock Jantke.

Konitzka, Kemp, Sonny and Shanley are better ruckmen than Stoll

I am a critic of stoll, while he has improved i still think he is over-rated imho. Yes he made mortlock and EP...but really there isn't that much difference between our final mortlock side and this years EP side. Say what you want but EP were without Jericho, Semmler and took in 3 relatively unfit/injured players. Namely Colbung, Feltus and Burton. I think both GFFL and PLFL rep sides would have been able to account for this years EP side. once again in my opinion. SO what does this tell us???? Nothing really except my point of Stoll not really performing in a side that is that much advanced. Good yes, quality??, verdict ok. Good local league ruckman.

The EP in the County championships are like what Far West is to Mortlock.

Cody played well, not in my top 5, but definetly top ten.
