The oval about an hour ago, no sign of anyone doing anything, would think it would be worth trying to roll it, plenty of wind and some sun today to help the process.

How would you think you could roll this! Roll it with a rolling pin maybe, but nothing is getting on that dunghill. League should just ban this place and make them stop spending thousands on players to go NO WHERE for the 10th year in a row, and put some resources back into getting some showers that work and an oval that may drain into the creek that is 3 metres away.

I would have thought you could try something, at least rolling it would get the surface water off it and start the drying process with good winds around today.

Does anyone use the oval at Cornerstone? Do they play school footy on it? I notice there are 2 soccer pitches that go across it but is any footy played on it?

What bemuses me about the whole bridgewater debacle is that the hfl big wigs had a look at the oval Saturday morning and gave the all clear play. What on earth would they have thought unacceptable ?? At least no central clubs will need to worry as the raiders will be battlers in country div next year .

Call me old fashioned, but is everyone getting a little soft??? :?
Back in the day players would put up with these ground conditions every 3 weeks or so.
Now players are lucky to see this kind of thing once or twice all year (unless it's your home ground) & I think this condition is less dangerous then covered concrete pitches & the fencing around many ovals.
The odd good old fashioned slog is one of the things that makes our game so different & great.

No worries milky bar kid! I invite you to head down to bridgy tomorrow night and train with their squads and see how much fun it is! Add to that ... you wont be able to wash your self afterwards, so to try to stop disease and infection, jumping in the creek is the best option!! Let us know how it goes ...the milky bars are on me!

No showers is poor form, can't disagree there. I'm talking ground conditions, I've played at Gaza before the drainage & it was just as bad. Just happy to be out there having a kick.

Owen was seen marking out ovals for the Mods carnivals Saturday at Sedan in the farmers crop paddock next to the oval. Should be good for the kids.

Pull your lid in. There was more chance of drowning in that mud than in the Onkaparinga. Not to mention that it smelt like the plague.

Milky Bar kid, not sure what footy was like BC but I can tell you now no one out there considered themselves 'lucky', not even the supporters.

More likely to drown than in a large body of water… Righto.

Anyway, trust me mate, I’m not that old & this wasn’t that long ago. I can guarantee you as someone who hasn’t played a game in 15 months & will have to wait at least another 7 months to play again, I would have loved to have been out there rain, hail or shine. Some of my favorite wins have been in these kinds of conditions when you know that your team mates have gutsed out a victory.

Cuts & infections can happen on any ground, my worst infections were caused by dry, bare goalsquares & I’m not going to call to have them ruled to dangerous to play on.

Obviously the conditions aren't ideal, but both teams have to play on it.

As someone who did a decent ankle injury playing in conditions similar to these, I can tell you infections aren't the only problem when the oval gets like that. When your legs get stuck in the mud and your either slid into or cop a bump, only things that can give are the ankles or knees.

For whoever signed the JLT Insurance Form passing that oval fit to play, they are very VERY lucky no one did a serious injury. The implications of signing that form are clear for all to read.
